I thought to begin this post with, we are living in perilous times, but I thought again and decided not to write that. Why? Well if you think about it, going back in history, when haven’t times, from the beginning of creation (who really knows, how when or why, of the creation story) and according to books and Oral teachings from ancient ones, have times ever been without chaos? When were humans ever not living in perilous times? Has the world ever been without chaos?

I have said it before over and over again, that the world runs on chaos, it is apart of life for all humankind, just like the ability we have of free will. It will continue to be this way, because out of all the dangers and new problems which the world citizens are faced with all the time, there is always hope for a change or that things will get better. Hope leads people to pray. Prayer exudes a special kind of energy, especially when many people are praying for the same thing. I know this sounds corny, monotonous even, but I assure you all that prayer works. It matters not in whose name you pray, there is only one creator. There are forces, non-physical beings who are among us and who are in time and space, and some operate for the greater evil of this world, and some operates for the greater good of the world. They are not adversaries to each other, they were created for a role and unlike us who have free will, they must do as they were created for. Yet the malevolent forces have the ability to undo, the problem they create, with the assistance of the benevolent, but the energy created by prayer whether individually or as a collective is needed to propel the actions of these malevolent to remove the problem and so the benevolent ones will fix it. It is a very complicated thing for me to explain, in just one post or even ten, but I am sure you get the gist, at least for now.

Ebola is doing great damage in Africa, and has even gotten a visa to travel to other places in the world. How does a person, or a whole country deal with this kind of terror? What are these people going through? So many dying, so many afraid, children being orphaned, what will happen, how can us as fellow world citizens help?. Where is Hope, Is there hope? The world is in crisis!

Yet I believe that this too shall quickly pass! It is a part of hope for me, my very own conviction, and I know that through relentless prayers, all will quiet down,very soon. We must pray, we must!

Cami our blogger has written a piece on Hope which you will find below. Please read it. I am realizing that not much people are reading the posts. After Cami’s post, I have reposted my own piece which I had written before on hope, Please read, read, there maybe something here for you and yours. God Bless!

Hope: a feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing to happen.

By Blogger Cami

With such a description, one can associate hope with wishful thinking, because to hope is to wish for goodwill to one’s self or on the behalf of others. But then, there are those who’ll use hope by projecting ill-will towards others. Today’s post is about how to hope when things in our lives seems to be falling apart; often times what was hoped for doesn’t come around on time, and then there are times when all hope is lost. What then?

If all hope is lost (dealing with a single life event) after wishing (most often through a prayer) that all will go in one’s favor distress may come into play and then we have the effect of hopelessness. There are times that the feeling of lost is so severe that suicide comes into play, hate, jealousy and at times murder. Hope it appears is attached to emotions.
It seems the best way to deal with hope when things are falling apart is to invest a minute amount of emotion into the unknown outcome, and whatever the outcome maybe embrace it and move on because hope can never be lost as long as there is life.
I’ve had countless time of wishing/hoping for a favorable outcome in many of my life events; there were times they were favorable and times when I meet distress because what I hoped for wasn’t in my favor…yet I moved on.

Here is a poem that I use to direct my thoughts when I’m hoping (wishing) and one that I turn to even when hope wasn’t in my favor; it was introduced to me from someone who once struggled and wanted to give up on hope.
Be bless.

A REPOST OF HOPE-BY OBARA MEJI

What makes you cope with stress, anxiety, and a world filled with murderers thieves and liars, what makes you turn to prayers to assist you with problems? Hope!.. In the story of  Pandora’s Box, when all the evil escaped, only Hope remained in the box, and in the very much appreciated novel The Great Gatsby, by F. Scott Fitzgerald, Gatsby was very poor and so he went after Success and notoriety, all to get the girl of his dreams Daisy, and even when she left him never to return, he held on to Hope that one day she would come back to him. Hope is an orientation of the heart. A renewable energy source that comes from the grace of God. It never runs out. We can tap into it whenever it is needed. President Obama won the election due to Hope, and his slogan was ‘A Change Will Come‘. Martin Luther King said “Everything That Is Done In This World Is Done By Hope“. One would rather have Hope as his companion than its nemesis Despair.When we pray we Hope for better. We hold on to Hope with dear life, Hope is our comforter. Amid discomfort, chaos, poverty, homelessness, disease, hatred, discrimination, it is Hope which keeps some people from putting a rope around their neck. People pray and fast in Hope that God will answer them, and People do good deeds in Hope that when they die they will go to heaven. We thank God for Hope.

Hope springs eternal in the human breast; Man never is, but always to be blessed:The soul, uneasy and confined from home,Rests and expatiates in a life to come.– Alexander PopeAn Essay on Man…Hope Springs Eternal! Hope is nourished by Patience. During the time when my Spiritual God  Mother did her evil to me by way of witchcraft, read my post Wicked People,  I sat home for almost two years not earning a thing. She had blocked all my doors with witchcraft. I had great friends in my small circle of spiritual people, yet I sought no help from them, as we initiates would comfort and check oracles for each other if we came under attack from another powerful person as was she. I would sit in my bedroom and stare through the window daily in silent prayer. This powerful witch was attacking me, she attacked me in such a way that a lesser person would have fight back, and to fight her back, with all her talons bare would be to Kill her. That, I would not even consider, I had the fear of God within me, and make no doubt about it, to fear the Lord is the beginning of Wisdom. So I would wake up every morning and pray. I would go to my shrines and kneel humbly to my Osun and my Ifa and I would pray. I never cursed God or asked him why? I knew that this would not last forever. I did not know when it would end, but I had Hope that God would assist me out of my dilemma, and he did. I was being tested. If I had not Hope and Faith in a higher power, I would have sought the help of my all too powerful friends and we would have retaliated in a way which would have affected her worse than what she did to me, but like Job, when backed against the walls with nowhere to go, I cursed not God and held onto Hope, and like Job I was renewed, I thank God!

Hope strengthens your faith, often times without you even realizing it. No matter how bad a situation is, it is common knowledge that anything is possible. A scientist whole life and research is Based on Hope. Pastors and Imams preach daily in Hope of reaching some lost soul. People, men and women make themselves attractive in Hope of getting a spouse, and people go to school to get an education in order to do well in life, perhaps even better than their parents so that they may one day assist them. In Christianity Hope is one of the three theological virtues, Faith, Hope and Charity. Hope is distinct on its own because it is directed toward the future, as fervent desire and confident expectation. Hope is confined to man forever. It is Hope why many people buy the lottery, Hope keeps us motivated. We need Hope to survive in this world which is filled with despair. Everyone relies on Hope. Hope is the only thing stronger than Fear, when danger looms and you are left staring out at impending doom, it is Hope which still stand strong. A dying man takes his last breath with Hope still clutched in his hands. My mother used to pray all the time “God please let me live to see my children pass the worst”  unspoken within these words were…God please assist my children to do good in this life, let them be happy in their own lives and keep them well, let me live so I can see it. This was her Hope and dream for us, as with any parent for their children.

Marcus Garvey gave the black man Hope. In one of his letters he wrote “Look for me in the whirlwind!  He gave us Hope that not even death could keep him away from the fight for our freedom and equality. He wanted us to know that a change will come and even without a physical body he would still be with us along with countless of other spirits, charged and ready for battle , he would fight along with us, using every element, every force of nature. He wanted to reassure a race of people who have been suffering for years, that death could not hold him back, he needed us to have Hope!….. “If I die in Atlanta my work shall then only begin, but I shall live, in the physical or spiritual to see the day of Africa´s glory. When I am dead wrap the mantle of the Red, Black and Green around me, for in the new life I shall rise with God´s grace and blessing to lead the millions up the heights of triumph with the colors that you well know. Look for me in the whirlwind or the storm, look for me all around you, for, with God´s grace, I shall come and bring with me countless millions of black slaves who have died in America and the West Indies and the millions in Africa to aid you in the fight for Liberty, Freedom and Life.”

While Bob Marley battled his illness, he found the strength to write and record Redemption song, which is hailed as one of his greatest work. Marcus Garvey’s words can be found in the song, “Emancipate yourself from mental slavery, none but ourselves can free our minds”. Marley recorded the song in solo acoustic, It was as if he meant to give us his last message, a message of  Hope. He needed no accompaniment, to shrill out the words, he wanted us to be able to hear them and perhaps sing along with him, after we had heard the lyrics and learned them well. It was a message of Hope. Faced with his own mortality, through song. he gave us Hope.

Helen Reddy’s song, I Am Woman..There you find the essence of Hope scattered throughout the lyrics, that as a woman you can do anything. There is a line in the song which says, “I am strong, I am invincible, I am woman”,  Highly inspirational, this song gives Hope to every little girl that their possibilities were endless, they could dream and realize their dreams. Journey has a song “Don’t Stop Believing” which is a song of Hope., and Jimmy Cliff song, “You Can Get It If You Really Want It”, Johnny Nash “I Can See Clearly Now The Rain Is Gone, all songs of Hope and Inspiration. Music carries the voice of Hope so very  strongly. We Hope to be the best we can in this life. We Hope to raise good children who will be upstanding citizens of the world. We Hope to do right by everyone around us and not be found sinful or wretched in the eyes of our fellow human beings and most importantly in the eyes of our God. We Hope for a Peaceful and a Better world and we Hope to see this in our lifetime. I Obara Meji Hope to be remembered when the time which is so far away off, comes and I go off into a world up yonder, to be remembered as a Good person who impacted peoples lives in a good and positive way. I Hope and pray that all of you who visit me here everyday use your head to find your way in life, as the fish uses its head to find his way through murky water of the River or Sea….ase!

I like the part where he says that there’s alot of trickery in the world but don’t let it blind you to the virtue that’s also out there. Love that part, alot of people cause the bitterness to hold them back from seeing the beauty and the good that’s out there. Don’t get me wrong It is a hard fight still

Cami

Yes, NuNu. You can also reverse that to, because the trickery seems to hit those who harbors no bitterness the most. Hence, they become victims quite easily.

When I got that poem I was told to repeat “You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars;you have a right to be here.”

And in this line “And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.” it’s what Obara’s attempting to impart on us. So, no matter how we hope…”the universe is unfolding as it should” and that we can not go against.

Desiderata
Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even the dull and ignorant; they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter;
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.

Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs; for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals;
and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself.
Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be critical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself.

You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.
With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy.

Good Afternoon, Charles with good will in numbers you shall overcome, ASE.

Obara! you left the link off the original email, lol. I’ve posted the poem base on a youtube audio. The poem is none other than Desiderata.

The author is Max Ehrmann, a poet and lawyer from Terre Haute, Indiana, who lived from 1872 to 1945. Desiderata is Latin and has been interpreted as “Things to be Desired” or “Things Desired As Essential.”…in short these “Things” is none other than HOPE.

I like the part about Hope being nourished by Patience. That can be one of the hardest virtue to hold unto when you’re in a situation where the only thing you’re standing on is hope. When distress is coursing through your veins you’ll pray to God that whatever “good” may come is instantaneous and that might definitely not be the case, and that’s where “patience” step in and mi wan’ fi prime and tell patience bout him bumbo but there is not one damn yuh can duh about it but wait

Good evening Obara n ES crew members. Today’s message seems as if it directly speaking to me. It came when I’m dejected. At this point, I’m totally confused and all I could do is hope. I will try to push my ego away. All I ask from you my family is to please remember me in your daily prayers. My landlord came in today to remind me, I have 2months to live my apartment. I really wanna go, but hoping that God would make a way for me. I’m hoping for I know Oludumare is working on something. I pray it comes before, I’m disgraced.
