Yesterday I spent my evening watching Revivals/Zionist churches in action. I, shamelessly (though being a Jamaican), have never been to or seen revival/Zionist churches in action prior to Obara’s enlightening posts on her experiences within the church and her roles there. It was very fascinating to watch and I became somewhat enchanted by their way of communicating with the spirits.
How amazing is spirituality??? When one has so many ways of being expressive with nature and with all that is. We can express thru so many mediums. I love the dance expressions… We express thru music and we can also be expressive through Poetry. It’s so Raw… and so Pure. There is so much beauty within us. So much beauty within the way we were created and tho mysterious is our creator, we can not deny the yearn we have at the conjuring of its powerful energy.
The spirit within becomes alive and expressive when stimulated by acts of love and acts of devotion to the energy we perceive as the All (God). So today, wherever we are, we will retreat within ourselves for an act of LOVE and/or an act of KINDNESS that has brought us to our knees and we will put that in poetry- Spiritual Poetry! ****this will be our first entry****
We all have light within us (even if we are currently going thru what we perceive to be “the valley of the shadow of death”). It matters not the darkness that has forced it’s self upon us, we still all have at least an ounce of light left peeking out at us (like James’s story yesterday)… and that tiny spot of light reminds us that there is still HOPE!!
So let us focus our ray of hope today as we make our Spiritual Poetry entries. Let us be raw… Let us be unapologetic… and let us be heard. For we are not the keepers of ourselves… So let us express, spiritually, how Olodumare and all our keepers have KEPT us! this will be our 2nd entry
We have a featured “Daily Prayer” post that stays up.. and so we can also incorporate a “Daily Poetry” post for the emotionally expressive types that wanna dump their thoughts here as well.
Obara Meji Spiritual Poetry on love and Kindness
I was born to love you, come lay upon my chest
It is an act on kindness I offer, no agenda, nor fi come suck mi breast
I am made of love and so too are you,
you have no right to feel alone
because I am here with you
I have no where to go, I will stay with you all day
I will be your ear, your peace of mind
your shoulder to lean, we will sing together, dance and pray
But promise me as I give to you, to others you will also give
We are all one, no matter the race or skin color, de bad living and hate
anhu suh we suppose to live
My embrace to you is nothing sexual, it is my heart which seeks to comfort you
suh accept it, love it, feel it, capture it, but nuh tink sey mi ah yuh boo
The loving care I show to you is as the creator does
he sends his rays of love to us and even bless me with a pair of Juggs
for you to lay your weary head on and tell me all your woes
so I can help you with my love and care and teach you
to look to God for solace, not to man or to drugs!
People mi cudden low de patois, yah
Obara Meji Spiritual Poetry of Love and kindness -Second entry
God, I have realized all my life
the love you have for me
and often times I have asked myself
if you favor only me
There are many beings which you have made
they are all over the world
but all my life I have felt your love
on this sometimes lonely little girl
What could it be, so special about me
that I feel your love so much
when the family which I have on earth
and even the mother who gave me birth
treated me with so much disgust
My God it is because of you that I have held my head up high
I know that it is possible to do anything
Like the song says, I even believe I can fly
For all my life you have held me close and have cuddled me as your child
You have protected me from harm and death and people who are vile
Great God of hosts, I thank you so, a better father I have never had
But what do I mean? What am I saying, are you not the Almighty God?
Psalms of David says of you that none of your children you will ever forsake
but with me Obara meji, you have given so much, what is left for others to take?
At times I feel guilty, knowing your special love for me
Yet I wonder at the others, my sisters and my brothers
of your love, like me, what would their testimony be!
