    • Give thx for the wisdom Iya. I appreciate the nuanced understanding which you convey.

    • Greetings Obara Meji,

Well done . Though you say you are holding back, in this time, you will no longer be able to write without going deep .

The wisdom embedded in this post is beautiful. I loved the use of energy and the expressions of gender to clarify common misunderstandings of deities and spiritual practices.

As I read, I was also able to apply the concepts you explained to Christianity and Islam…without questioning validity of a religion or spiritual practice, it is evident that the further west it travelled, the focus and interpretation took more form than energy.

In this time, with easy access to inFORMation, everybody knows everything and results become short-lived because of ignorance and dilution. There are also challenges faced by those who seek to learn authentically and the truth becomes exclusive and expensive to access.

There’s so much more to unravel.
However, I am grateful for your willingness to share your light, wisdom and experiences with us freely.

      Blessings

    • Thank you Obara meji, may the forces of the universe strengthen and bless you.please I want to ask must I be initiated by a priest or priestess to the water Goddess. I’m from the eastern part of Nigeria. Secondly I had a dream where I was given money, afterwards I went to an occasion and was trying to collect a souvenir, then an old man asked me to forget about the souvenir and come help him sweep his compound. Please what does helping him sweep signify. Thank you

      • If one is to be initiated to any deity such as you who want to be initiated to water, then yes the Priestess who has the Ase of that diety must be the one to initiate you so as to pass along the power.
A priest or priestess can be an initate of more than one deity hence them having the Ase of those they are initiated to.
The dream is a private message so I will not share my insight to it publicly although you seem not to mind since you asked ot here.

        Blessings to you and yours

        • Thank you very much for your reply, I don’t mind you sharing your insight to my dream. Light and love to you

          • There is hard work in the way for you my dear, however it will yield profitable if you persevere.
Remember labour is not always physical. The hardest work most often is mental labour! Stress?

    • Ok, When a deity begins to take on images and depictions, that expression of the deity is more of exalted man than god. The more form it is, the more it takes on image, the less that it is a pure beam of light and the more it begins to act as how anything would living within our dense human environment.

I know that the orishas take on different personality, so it can be easier for the human mind to comprehend, but I wanted to know how do we humans keep the energy in their highest and purest vibration.

      • This is a very good question, let me try to do justice to it.
Here in Africa our Ifá/Orisha traditional practice is a practice of sacrifice. I am not shy to tell you that most often than not, blood is included in the sacrifice. Why should I be shy to tell you this when many of you or your families eat meat, those animals Sacrifice their blood for your sustenance.
However in other places in the world these same sacrifices are done and are done without the use of blood to the same deities we venerate but are called by different names.
In the Hindu tradition there is a goddess called

Lakshmi, this goddess is a river goddess and has characteristic traits of our Osun here in Africa. I am not sure if blood is given to her secretly in that practice but I have never heard of it, however our osun, when consulted, to solve a problem for someone, may ask for a woman fowl or guinea or something else.

Us Africans are looked upon as barbaric because we will ring the fowls neck off and give the blood to Osun.
        .
While when worshiping Lakshmi, they will spray perfumes and give fruits and flowers. This seems safe and so people will gravitate to this type of ritual.

The Africans however are keeping the purity of the deity in the way they feed its essence because blood is life.
When a child is born, it comes from the mother’s womb with blood. Without blood there is no life.
So what you see as barbaric among the Africans in their veneration of spirit is true to form pure as is creation.
We keep the purity of our deities by venerating them, as close as we can to nature and the natural life of living, this needs more explanation though.
There is more to this answer, but my enemy is tired I have been working all day.

    • Just have to say, Wow… This post is higher level thinking and reading all together. Thank you Obara Meji for breaking things down for this human mind to learn to understand. This is a must read again because a lot of important information regarding the Yemoja or Yemaya to be learn here. I really enjoy and learn a lot when you tell your story and write it. I just have to say Thank you because you put so much into your writing for us to learn and have a better understanding of things.

    • The help is supposed to be perfect, I’m glad for that word unscrambler

    • Aboru boye teacha! Great Post and thank you for your wisdom, can I just say for me some of these literal meanings helped me to process and come to some kind of understanding until I knew better as you said humans minds are limited so we try to process by adding literal meanings whichi know is wrong. I have a question in the world of dreams when a deity appears as a gender does this also have a meaning ? because from what I understand energy is male and female so why appears as a gender ?

      • We are living is a material world, a place that is chaotic. A deity will appear to us any how they choose. As l said it is how the human being limited brain process what they have encountered.
In the human way of understanding the human understand genders, man and woman.

If a bath tub appears to a human in the dream or a tire and claim to be Jesus or God or an archangel, persons would be befuddled. However the Christian Bible said God appeared to Moses as a burning Bush.
Is the Christian God a burning bush? We can assume it as such according to Moses and the story the Bible told. However that may have been how that divine super being (God) manifested to lower intelligence here on this planet .

        • Ahhhh I understand now, but if the world of dreams Communicate via symbols doesn’t the gender it appears as have a meaning that’s my question? The reason why I ask is this lool it may sound funny to you but for me I understood with the lil knowledge I have about Interpretation, before i knew it myself that I was pregnant a deity would appear in different ways shape or Form and I would know I was pregnant and what child I am to have. Do not be Offended teacher am just learning.

    • I thank you very much for this comment and your story. I would like to learn more about your Dinis traditional practice. All traditional practice are the same and are ine, culture, language and environmental may create the variant but all are but ONE.
There is a practice in Igbo land that is very similar to what we call Zion in our Jamaican culture. In their culture, imagery, colors and then some.
Spirit is everything and everything is Spirit. Spirit is plural like saying the word people. However not everything or everyone is plugged into spirit. In other words not everyone is attuned or conscious of Spirit of whatever is.

This is too intricate to detail in a commnet, when the minds here have grown, I will write a post or teach a class on this . Thanks once again my brother!

    • Thanks for breaking down this subject O! Also appreciate your breakdown of the practice of sacrifice in your response to Toy. Can’t discuss Orishas without referencing veneration. In your follow-up post on Orishas, can you please shed light on what it means when multiple Orishas choose an IFA initiate?
