GENERAL QUESTIONS[su_accordion][su_spoiler title=”Q1: What is Embracing Spirituality?” open=”no” style=”default” icon=”plus” anchor=”” class=””]Embracing Spirituality is a blog teaching metaphysics and spirituality. Our site first launched in May 2011 when Obara Meji (at the suggestion of her daughter) began writing her own experiences, both past and present, with the aim of assisting anyone who may be or have been going through experiences similar to hers. Trained as a Metaphysician by non-physical beings, Obara taught her readers all that she has learned along her journey, including why things happen, how they happen, how to avoid her own painful experiences, how to protect yourself, how the Universe works, and most of all, how to evolve. On Embracing Spirituality, readers travel along Obara’s life as new events, experiences, and lessons occur everyday. In this sense, Obara Meji is almost used by the Universe to experience situations, gain lessons and wisdom from them and then to teach it to the world.[/su_spoiler] [su_spoiler title=”Q2: Who Operates Embracing Spirituality?” open=”no” style=”default” icon=”plus” anchor=”” class=””]All posts, with the exception of guest posts (“bloggers posts”) and Q&A, are written by Obara Meji. Embracing Spirituality as a whole, including technical and design services, is operated by other team members.[/su_spoiler] [su_spoiler title=”Q3: Who is Obara Meji?” open=”no” style=”default” icon=”plus” anchor=”” class=””]Obara Meji is a spiritualist, metaphysician, teacher, and traditionalist for over 20 years. She was born in Kingston, Jamaica on April 20th, and moved to New York City with her family as a teenager. Always having been the outcast in her home, she was abused and beaten constantly by her father and thrown out of her house by her mother as a teenager. Finding her way around NYC alone, she was faced extreme hardships as she was pregnant and alone with no where to sleep. Life eased a little when she went on to own her first business: a hair salon. When she had an apartment of her own, she took pity on people who also had no where to go and gave them a room in her home, or she would work and find the money to rent the person their own room and pay their rent indefinitely. However, Obara has taken in about 20 homeless persons into her own home because they often reminded her of herself.
Obara Meji’s awakening first began when she was a child of 5 years old and had pebbles thrown at her from invisible sources, unusual vivid dreams, and was the only 5 year old in her community that would rather read a Star Newspaper than play hopscotch. Despite her mother’s dislike for her, Obara was fascinated by her mother as she was a very spiritual woman.
Years later, Obara learned that her mother was destined to be a Spiritualist but ran away from the duty for fear of judgement and criticism by the Christian community. The duty then landed on the shoulders of Obara Meji.
Obara’s awakening was often intense for a few years then would ease again for another few years. The second leg of her awakening had put her into a deep depression where she was prescribed drugs to ease the intensity (drugs that she did not take). The 3rd and last leg of her awakening was maddening. She had lost her ability to speak English, walk without assistance, lived on only liver water for iron, and would often fall into possessions that she could not control or be taken out of her body through Astral Traveling. It was during this intense and maddening period, or “Spiritual Schooling” that non-physical beings taught her all that she knows.
Obara Meji became the Leadress (female leader) of the Jamaican Spiritual Church ‘Zion/Revival’, had 3 spiritual mentors she honors to this day, and later settled comfortably into the Ifa/Orisha Tradition where she remains today, and where her name ‘Obara Meji’ was chosen.
After several horrific spiritual battles (which were also apart of her schooling) that threatened her life, the life of her children, and destroyed her relationships, Obara never thought she could have made it through her life with her sanity. But here she is today, sharing her experiences to the world and teaching metaphysics through the lessons of her own life.[/su_spoiler] [su_spoiler title=”Q4: Are You on Social Media? Why/Why Not?” open=”no” style=”default” icon=”plus” anchor=”” class=””]Embracing Spirituality the “brand” does use Social Media networks such as Twitter and Instagram. Both accounts are not ran by Obara Meji but are operated by helpful volunteers. You may see or have seen an ‘Embracing Spirituality’ or ‘Obara Meji’ Facebook account but those accounts were created to be connected to the blog for API reasons and not social reasons. We are a little “cautious” of using Social Media to reach a wider audience because we wish to protect the honesty and values of our blog and do not want it to be confused with other Spiritual Blogs who may not hold the same values.[/su_spoiler] [su_spoiler title=”Q4: What Are Your Values?” open=”no” style=”default” icon=”plus” anchor=”” class=””]Embracing Spirituality values honesty, trust, and loyalty. Our values reflect that of Obara Meji. Spirituality is very important and sacred and should be handled with care by learners, practitioners, and teachers. Therefore, the information we provide here on this website is provided with your safety, protection, and ultimate benefit in mind. Obara will provide warnings if necessary, advice, recommendations, etc. in order to ensure your safety and understanding as you travel along life’s way.[/su_spoiler][/su_accordion]
Readings/Divination Questions[su_accordion][su_spoiler title=”Q1: What is the difference between Obara’s Reading and an Ifa Reading?” open=”no” style=”default” icon=”plus” anchor=”” class=””]Both methods of divination differ in the oracles used and also how messages are given. Ifa divinations (or “casting Ifa”) uses the Ifa oracle to bring down Live Energies. These Live Energies are called Odu. That Odu can be thought of as a “page out of your destiny book”. During this reading, we get access to that page of your Destiny and the oracle will reveal things you should know as well as the solutions to any problems or goodness that we want to bring forward. Solutions with the Ifa Oracle are most often sacrifices (i.e. animal sacrifices, food, drinks, herbs, liquor, cloths, etc.). With this method of divination, sacrifices are required and are excellent solutions.
A reading with Obara Meji uses Obara’s own personal oracle, or herself. These readings are often very very detailed and more personal, as the readings take place over the phone or (less often) in person. Solutions to problems can be given through Obara’s own work or recommendation, or (most often) through sacrifice by consulting the Ifa Oracle on the area of concern.[/su_spoiler] [su_spoiler title=”Q2: I have just scheduled a reading. How should I prepare?” open=”no” style=”default” icon=”plus” anchor=”” class=””]Nothing at all! Simply wait for your scheduled time and call at the time of your appointment. Obara does not require information, pictures, or any other detail unless otherwise stated in unlikely cases.[/su_spoiler] [su_spoiler title=”Q3: I am afraid of sacrifices, do I have to do it?” open=”no” style=”default” icon=”plus” anchor=”” class=””]First: There is absolutely nothing “dark” or negative about sacrifices. Everything you do towards a goal, is a sacrifice. Animal sacrifices are great because the animal carcass will be used to feed the community (unless forbidden by the oracle) and all actions of the sacrifice are symbolic. Symbolism is the language of the Universe and in order to bring forth or dispel, we must communicate that desire through symbology and code. We HIGHLY recommend reading the WHAT IS SACRIFICE? AND HOW DOES IT WORK? post for a better understanding.
However, no, you do not have to do anything you do not want to do. There may be alternatives but that all depends on the situation and what it requires. In some situations, sacrifices are the best solution. In others, Obara may be able to assist in another way. But please note: Obara Meji is a teacher and she will most likely decide to teach you about spiritual work and how it works. As well as solving your problems, we believe you must have knowledge and understanding about spirituality![/su_spoiler] [su_spoiler title=”Q4: I just got a reading. How soon before I can have another one?” open=”no” style=”default” icon=”plus” anchor=”” class=””]Obara recommends getting a reading every 21 days. However, life happens, so if you feel you need a reading sooner, please contact Obara Meji and she will assist you. Also NOTE* Please be sure to do your solutions as prescribed. Getting several readings is just like getting several checkups at the doctor. You can not heal if you do not do something about the issue.[/su_spoiler] [su_spoiler title=”Q5: How long are readings?” open=”no” style=”default” icon=”plus” anchor=”” class=””]Readings do not have a set time length. It depends on how much the oracle speaks at the time, how many questions or concerns you have, and how much you and Obara may have to talk about. It is difficult to estimate phone call lengths and we do not want to limit you.[/su_spoiler] [su_spoiler title=”Q6: I just had a reading. What happens now?” open=”no” style=”default” icon=”plus” anchor=”” class=””]Congratulations! We recommend leaving a testimonial of your experience on the TESTIMONIALS page. There is nothing required of you after your reading unless Obara tells you otherwise.[/su_spoiler] [su_spoiler title=”Q7: I have specific questions/concerns, will the reading focus on that?” open=”no” style=”default” icon=”plus” anchor=”” class=””]Yes and no. The reading will focus on what is most important for you to know now. So for example, if you want to know if you will win the lottery tomorrow, but the oracle sees a sickness for someone you care about, the oracle will focus on the latter. However, after the oracle reveals important information, you are free to ask of any specific concerns.[/su_spoiler] [su_spoiler title=”Q8: When getting a reading for myself, can Obara Meji read my spouse/sibling/friend through me?” open=”no” style=”default” icon=”plus” anchor=”” class=””]Only if the oracle speaks of them on its own, but it is always best for the person to get his or her own reading.[/su_spoiler][/su_accordion]
