I urge you to always try with all your might and will to be the best human being that you can possibly be. Do not hold God in one hand and wickedness in the other. If you are a child of God as the christians says, then let you light shine before you. I have a problem with human beings who profess to be the caring. loving worshippers of God and then they turn away the beggar, or they abuse the child, or the ignore the sick and lame. We should love each other, unconditionally, and the ones who are hard to love because of their ways and rotten or criminal personalities we should pray that the universe protect us all from their malevolence. Am I my brothers keeper?, yes I am and as such I open my arms to all, regardless of race, color or creed!!. I Obara Meji love you all. Ase!!!!.
This Post is in response to someone who emailed me and asked “Why do some prayers get answered right away while others seem to be ignored?”.
Although it sounds cliché, I am convinced that prayer is the answer to everything. irregardless of religion or whatever belief systems we as humans engage in or not engage, the power of words repeated to whatever divinity can give us the desire or result we seek. Whether you believe faithfully or even if you are a little doubtful, the power of prayer will not fail you, but only if it is approached with a mind and heart that is truly set on those desires that are asked for in the prayer.
The universe in its wisdom will label your prayers in the order of importance and urgency. For example a person may pray for money and not receive neither money or a job in which to earn that money, but that same person has health and life. The universe has given wealth to you, because health and life are priceless and cannot be bought, but because we are so fixated on the physical dollars we cannot appreciate that which has been given to us in terms of wealth, health and life, because our lowly human mind cannot understand that of the Divine. Now we ask the question…. who do I pray to when I don’t believe in God or my belief in God is not very strong, I do not understand the whole concept of who or what is God, so if and when I pray what happens?….. To understand God is to BE God yourself. No one understands who or what is God, and it is not for us to judge those who do not believe nor do we try to force our knowledge on said persons, however the focus here is the power of prayer, and everyone does it, even if it is only called a wish. The focus on the divinity called God as the churches do and also which is the human obsession is WRONG!!, because our belief in that Divinity is worship within itself. Rather our focus should dwell on nature, our environment and everything within the earth, as the earlier people of our times did, (our ancestors) and doing so would help us get more intuned or attuned with that which is God.
Prayers or incantations are what all religions and traditional practices have in common, and as such it should be explored more often, not as belonging exclusively to any institution, but what it constitutes as a LONE tool of progress in humanity. The practice of prayer whether public,or private, ritualistic or lofty, petitionary or for thanksgiving, is deliberate and can be used with words or songs or even chants. It is an intimate connection to the divine.

Prayers are my bread and butter… I start and end my day with a prayer… prayers are my petition to God that I need him always, for I am a mere human who is striving to be a better person each day and the struggles to do so are real… I know I cannot do it alone for God has given me so much help; wonderful ancestors, guides, Orishas, family, enlightened spirits, and other wonderful humans…
My prayer for us is to embrace God, our spirituality, our ancestors, the universe and love…
Reblogged this on Embracing Spirituality.
I wouldn’t sweat what your family is saying. (No disrespect) But how would they know what God or any spirit out there can hear or not hear? Now if you don’t want to chance it then that’s fine. The most important thing is do what makes you comfortable. Your message will get to where it needs to go either way as long as it comes from you.
Morning Rayne…….That’s what I figured cause I dont really like to pray out loud lest there is some evil/negative force lurking around…..dont really know what they will do, but just dont want to chance it.
A lot of people believe that if they dont hear you praying out loud, that you dont pray (my family is like that)
Thats a good question Maniac. Morning to you. I don’t think it matters as long as what your praying about is sincere and from the heart.
I have a question for you teacher….does it matter if the prayer is said out loud or silently in your mind? Which works better?

GG. I too know what you mean and believe me there’s nothing wrong with feeling that way. At times you must fight through that and keep having faith. I’m sure you’ll be blessed in one way or another. Just look around you. You’ll see what I mean.
