No it does not. When you climb a step, you climb one at a time. If you tried two at a time, will you not stumble? Will you not be confused? It is the same with trying to balance several different ways of life (or religions) at once. It a person hears a horn in one ear, and drums in the other, it would certainly drive them crazy. Along with this,…[Read more]

Sim, I am a medium, so messages comes at all times, all hours. This morning, I realized that the normally hot day was extremely cool, but I thought nothing of it, just a fleeting “hmm. cool day” crossed my mind. I showered, and went to a particular place to meet with some people, still feeling fine. I heard the theme song of an old television…[Read more]

Oore Yeye OOOO, Osun OOOOO!
Obara Meji, I salute you! Your willingness to teach is illuminating my path – thank you.
On this journey, especially in this time, the greater access we have to information enables us to live a “balanced” life.
In this post, you explained the IFA tradition beautifully and the “reasoning” provided me with the confirmation I needed in a remarkable way. There is great relief in not feeling the need to “defend” my affiliation with IFA. There is no need too argue or force another to convert – Tradition is all inclusive, it is limitless. Why would I resort to less?
I would love for you to expound on one thing:
Why is the Negative considered the elder of the Positive? How do you explain one going before the other? I have an idea but I’d prefer your clarity 🙂
Thank you for the Question IB. In the post, Negative represent that which is not good, or darkness, it represent, quarrel, fight, disturbance, uncertainty, and more,. Nature and all things within teaches this, thunder and lighting strikes (not that this is bad, but can be frightening for some, and lightning can be dangerous), before rain falls to cleanse.
If you are able to study the elemental forces, you will see the flip side of everything therein. The negative or what is termed “bad” always comes before the good. Whenever anything positive is to happen in someones life or within the environment, or even the world, the bad, must occur.
If the road is bad and needs fixing, it must be dug up, and new road put in place. Drivers.commuters and pedestrians alike will be inconvenienced, but when all is done, there will be a pleasant outcome that will benefit all who will use that path way. making it safer and better.
A mother carries her child for the gestation period of 9 months (most often, as it should be). During that time, she is ill, uncomfortable, she gains weight, has mood swings and more. At the birthing table, she cries, beseech and moans for this to be over, and when the child makes its entry, it is joy unspeakable and full of glory.
The boss picks on you and the co-workers makes your life a living hell, and you quit, only to find a better job, with better benefits, and more pay and even respect to boot. You look back at the agony you faced before this blessing came, the tears you she, the prayers you made.
If you look back in your life or those you are closest to, you will see the pattern of the negative coming first, and if you are willing to endure, then the positive rolls in.
They say that before there was anything here on planet earth, there was darkness, then Light came and here we are
.
Thank you for responding.
I can relate to that in several ways 🙂
I find it helpful to avoid viewing occurrences in the typical sense of “positive” or “negative” and it definitely helps.
Everyone evolve at there own pace. I remember questioning everything about Christianity and I was deemed as strange or going against God words when I questioned things. I felt bad becuz of how ppl looked at me and deemed me to be the bad guy. I struggled for along time trying to find the right place to fit in. I was wise enough to look at all religion and not condemn them but still seek what I was looking for…
This one of the reason I thank u Ms. Obara becuz u have been that one person whose blog made me know I wasn’t strange or just being rebellious. Your post means so much to me as I have learn so much. I might not reach the level at yet some thing I am yet to fathom the idea as I have not being expose fully but it just mek sense. I thank you again as I was expose to IFA, Osun on this medium and I am truly grateful
You are welcome my darling. This is the thing with religion, they tell you if you go against their teachings, you are sinning. Sinning against what or who? Will God chastise you for wanting to learn, why can’t you be free to question things? what are they afraid of?
They’re afraid of losing tithes and offerings
I certainly don’t know.. if I am in a religion and it’s a problem to asked question or to seek clarification on things that makes no sense. Something is wrong and off
Once again another beautiful and rich post Ma’am. I’m not surprised though, but each time you teach, there is always some new revelation to see.
My questions are;
*You said if man can look at life from lesser place. By lesser place do you mean without worry of what will come tomorrow or when will it come or just looking at life without material attachments?
*What is happening to Sally is not that she’s being punished for offending a child of water but her misalignment with that energy due to her fight. Does this mean that Maya is in alignment with the energy if sweet waters and that’s what causes the problem for Sally?
*If Maya was not in alignment with the sweet water energy, would Sally have had any problems after that fight?
*Is it possible to also be punished for offending a child of sweet water energy even as you say Sally isn’t being punished for that reason? I mean can the Orisha take that action to teach the offender a lesson?
Big up Ma’am Obara!!! You always drop golden teachings on here.
Thanks so much… Love and light…
Hi Kay, thank you very much for the questions.
1) A “lesser place” as it relates to the post, means a person is not well advanced in their perception or understanding of spirituality.
2) No it doesn’t mean that Maya is in alignment with sweet water. It means that knowingly or unknowingly, Maya is a child of water. That is the realm she comes from. She is just in physical form but in fact is the embodiment of water spirit walking among us. So Sally, even if she was water, herself, and did not know, the fact that whatever she did or said to offend Maya was so disturbing or offensive, said water, as energy could react to her. So Sally, let’s say, “manipulated” that energy to work against her. Maya did not cause Sally’s repercussion, Sally caused it herself. So the Babalawo will now proscribe a sacrifice to manipulate the energy back into Sally’s favor.
3) #2 should answer this question.
4) Yes it can be and it has even happened in my own case. I had a sister who offended me deeply, and to this day water still disturbs her. Anywhere she goes, her house floods. She will do her own spiritual work, despite what I might advise her, but she knows and understands nothing about Ifa. So until she can appease the energy she offended, water will continue disturbing her. OH also another way the energy can be appeased is if the same person who was offended now genuinely forgives the person in the same depths at which the offense was caused. (I tried forgiving her but she keeps offending me so mi nuh business). For her own good I stay away from her so she doesn’t go and drown in her bathtub lollllll
Thanks for clearing my head with your answers. Lol @so she doesn’t go and drown in her bathtub…
You’re a gem, a uniquely rare one i must say.
Blushing, thanks Kay
As i always do, i came back to read this post again. For the umpteenth time and also read comments from others because there are things to learn from the answers you give to.
I must say the comments i see from other bloggers gives me so much joy on this topic.
Whoever doesn’t get this cannot understand Ifa until the day their Ori forcefully opens their inner eyes lol.
Even people following Ifa presently do not understand it this way Ma’am… Please blush all you want you deserve it.
Like you always say “all religions are valid, so long as it preaches peace and love”
A very good morning and a good day to you yours.

It is the same with trying to balance several different ways of life (or religions) at once. It a person hears a horn in one ear, and drums in the other, it would certainly drive them crazy. Along with this, everything carries its own vibration. Christianity has its own and so does Ifa. There are different levels in spiritual roads, this is why we climb from one place up to another. Choose a road and climb a step at a time.

WOW Sis I have one perfect for you and your readers!
Its Power of Myth by Joseph Campbell a Professor who studied various religions and he analyze the difference between religion and Tradition just as you are explaining here-
It is very old 1980s but you can find the videos here and there but it is 6 Parts in full if I can remember-
Explain alot of stuff you always talking about with religions and the stories (myth they use)EXTREMELY insightful. Some of the things he talks about are exactly what I hear you talk about in terms of how to live, there is no good or bad! duality! and many more
I am going to search and watch it again actually
Yeah man, have his audios and books of the story of Gilgamesh, yes his work is awesome
I am going to check out his other stuff-
Thanks Sis!
Thank you for taking your time to write an important topic as this. I love your examples and how you break everything down. Thank you for making this clear once again Obara Meji. Reading this topic is evolving. I love the end of this post is so deep.
“We exist so that we may evolve.
Evolution has no expiration. So there continues the story…”
Obara Meji
Thank you for sharing .
You are very welcome my dear, thanks for reading
Hello Obara! Again, what a beautiful post ❤️
Would it be correct to say that, the stories in various religions are all truths – but are interpreted and retold in different ways (some with an agenda)? Religion goes wrong with complete worship and devotion & often limits the acceptance of duality that exists in the universe.
This is what I gather from this post..
Also, I know that you often speak of “good/evil” things happening as apart of our journey in this realm.
In the instance of Sally, if she went to the Babalawo before the argument – and he told her how to avoid it, and she did -could this avoidance have possibly interrupted her journey (as it relates to spiritual elevation)? I hope this question makes sense, lol.
Love and light.
Hi Sim,
Sorry for the late response. But thank you for the questions!
1) Stories in the Bible, in Koran, in the Hindu Text or otherwise can not be looked at as Truths as what we perceive with Truth to be. Anything that is coming from an unknown source or from ancient times, has had eons to be remixed, watered down, made up for teaching purposes, etc. However, there is something, as we know it called Spirituality, and spirituality carries with it a particular energy that manifests in our world as tools to guide and prepare us and teach us as travel along life’s way.
So if we see mythology in anyone of these dogmas or doctrines it can be interpreted or believed to be Truth, because its main goal is to teach or pass along wisdom. Therefore, we should not think the about the wholeness or Holiness of it, only how it affects our lives, our thinking, our consciousness, our journey, our beliefs etc.
There are no Truths. Just as there are no Lies.
This is an Intermediate to Advanced post, so if you don’t really understand it now, come back after some time and see if you digest it all in a new light!
Hm. Not necessarily. Religion doesn’t go wrong with worship and devotion (and this does not mean that worship and devotion is or isn’t the “correct” way to evolve, it is merely the level that they operate until they experience self-realization and further advancement). Religion goes wrong with limiting evolvement, encouraging limitation, and discouraging searching for knowledge and Truth anywhere outside of these organizations. This is where it goes wrong and why it will fade from existence if the Earth moves into a more advanced state, making more elementary and stagnating spiritual lifestyles cease to exist.
Duality is also a limitation. The concepts of good and bad are the viewpoints of the current consciousness of a large collective of humanity. When one evolves, one realizes that everything exists for the purpose of evolution. When one advances, the idea of Oneness is a more accepted reality.
Thank you, learning so much
Thanks to you ma you really said alot in this post that made me understand some certain things that I felt ignorant about. moreover I stop reading Bible lately since I decided to follow my part as African Spirituality and everytime I always find answer to so many unquestionable act in the bible that made me believe the Bible is one of the conspiracy theories. I’m happy to find your blog may Olodumare keep guiding you great Obara Meji. Ase!!!
Good morning ma’am, great post. Even though am well acquainted with what you wrote, this post reminds me of something very important. As someone who has done a lot of appeasement, the palm oil sacrifice resonate with me. Sometimes an addition of biscuits, cake, kola nut, egg and so on. Sometimes you begin with pouring of water in the road (crossroad), depending on the appeasement…
The palm oil is poured all over the items during which you will be making your intention or speak as told by the babalawo and immediately when you are done, you walk away from the sacrifice without looking back until you get to your house or walk into your house.
The oil is to loose everything that is tight in someone’s life, to make everything that is hard become soft, and so on. Again, depending on the appeasement.
Please ma’am I have some questions that I would appreciate if you give me answers.
My first QUESTION is why is it that sometimes there is little or no changes in the situation a person find him or herself even after undergoing the appeasement, even after doing several sacrifices as told by ifa via the babalawo. Sometimes the person who did the sacrifices doesn’t find any changes in his or her life even after it as been confirmed that the sacrifice was accepted.
My second QUESTION is why is it that some appeasement can be done on someone else’s behalf but some sacrifices must be carried out by the person that want to appease. His or her presence must be needed.
Though I have being given different answers from different spiritualist and traditionalist. But I know In life, there are levels. All fingers are not same likewise the head.
We have one VISIBLE HEAD but some people have SEVEN like some seven head spirits.
WE WERE NOT BORN EQUAL.
That’s my questions ma’am, I hope you understand the questions.
Thank you and Stay Blessed.
Benjamin by you expounding on the palm oil I made reference to, shows me that you have missed the entire point of the post. However I will answer your question, and by the way, what you just described as appeasement may be for what was prescribed for YOU, but I need to let anyone who read your comment know that sacrifice is not like that always, and what Benjamin has described is what was prescribed perhaps for him to a particular deity for a particular reason. We have to be responsible for information we are putting out to the public Benjamin. Your description above was for You, I reiterate once more.
To answer your question about sacrifices not working for you (and I know you will come back and say you know this already, but please know that it is the humblest calf who will suck the most milk).
Sacrifice is done to shift an energy, to clear the way. Most often after the sacrifice, immediately things will change but because your eyes are glued to the window looking to blatantly see a flood of goodness coming to you, you will miss that all week the baby in the crib has been crying, and now the baby is quiet, gurgling and playful.
The energy that created the problem came from the cries that the child created with it’s cries. Now it’s solved but you are still looking.
Be wise, although wisdom is not sold in shops, it is given to those who have released ego, and for those deemed worthy.
.
People respect when change is loud instead of subtle..
The Babalwos will not explain this to you, because it is not their job to do so, you should be humble enough to understand subtle changes in your life, not everything will be drastic.
Then there are the sacrifices that no matter what you do, if your Ori (your head) wants a particular thing for you, nothing will allow it to budge.
My family member has been working on her job for fourteen years. She is an Ifa Initiate and makes her sacrifice all the time.Since Covid19 came in, the job began to fight her.She cried everyday, she made sacrifices and still the fight continued. She did divination with me and I told her that because of her sacrifice, she is now moving onto her next phase in life. The spirit told her that, they (spirits) are making her uncomfortable so that she could move on.
She is yet to marry and have children, so leaving that place and onto the next, is where the energy will shift for her and there awaits her husband and children that she has been searching for. Things like these happen.
Sacrifice done correctly and through the direction of Odu and a competent Babalawo, works. Be wise, at times the sacrifice is to affect you 15 years from now and not NOW. Relax and trust. , . .
Also, if you have to be there when the sacrifice is to be done, at times a particular item has to touch your body, but there are solutions to that, if you are not able to be there personally.
I hope that these question satisfies your soul, read and read again before you respond, I am used to you, and your mind spins like a fan on its highest speed.
God Bless and thank you for the questions.
Please forgive typo’s and run on sentences.
Good morning Ma,
I honour you!
Each time you post an article, personally, you are taking me to a higher realm to show me all the answers to my questions I’ve been asking myself for so many years…
Thank you sooooo much for what you are doing. You are doing abundantly well for mankind. I sincerely appreciate your generous and humanitarian service. You don’t have to do this but you chose to do it to awake myself and so many others. I’m grateful…
The Spirits will continue to guide and lead you…
More blessings upon you!
” Everyone is where they ought to be we exist so that may evolve” this true wisdom thank you obara meji. My question is what are the likes and dislikes of people from sweet waters?
* If sally goes and apologised to maya for hurting her with words and maya accepts the apology wouldnt that pacify the energy she has offend?
*What are the characteristics of someone who is an embodiment of the energy FIRE?
Hi bbeey,
1) Read the Nature Series Water post: https://www.embracingspirituality.com/2017/02/17/water-people-they-walk-among-us-and-theyre-real/
2) I answered similarly in a comment below. Here is what I replied:
“I had a sister who offended me deeply, and to this day water still disturbs her. Anywhere she goes, her house floods. She will do her own spiritual work, despite what I might advise her, but she knows and understands nothing about Ifa. So until she can appease the energy she offended, water will continue disturbing her. 3) Read the Nature Series Fire post: https://www.embracingspirituality.com/2017/02/20/nature-series-fire-people-and-the-realms-of-fire/
Thank you very much!
Thank you ma’am for the reply, I think I made a mistake with the way I structured my comment that’s why you misinterpreted everything. You always misinterpret my comments or replies. Even from the first day you replied my mail (No disrespect). I think perhaps, most times I don’t get my message across the right way or the way you will easily understand what am trying to say. That’s why I prefer speaking instead of writing (I told you that last year).
Firstly, anyone reading this should know that my comment wasn’t about the post. All I did was use a line in the post to ask a question while making reference to the post so that my comment wouldn’t be entirely outside the area of focus.
You are right, what I wrote about the palm oil was prescribed to me, I didn’t want to make the reply all about me that’s why i used those words, is just like you telling a story to people but you don’t want the people to know the story is about you, so you say the true story but in a different way.
When I was commenting, I knew you will understand that it is about me but i didn’t think that other people might think I expounded more on what you said about the palm oil, which wasn’t my intention.
My intention was for you to have an idea of what my questions are about, that is why I explained the palm oil before the questions. I accept I made quite a mistake with the way I went about it (APOLOGY BY THE SIDE MA’AM).
I’m very well acquainted with all you said in your reply to my comment. To be precise, all you said, I already knew long time ago, the reason I asked you the questions is not because I’m ignorant of what am asking, is me trying to know if you will give me a different answer entirely that I can use for the purpose of GROWTH because of who you are.
The parable I used was misinterpreted by you as well. This parable “But I know In life, there are levels. All fingers are not same likewise the head.
We have one VISIBLE HEAD but some people have SEVEN like some seven head spirits.
WE WERE NOT BORN EQUAL.”
What I meant by that parable was me saying that you might know more than the spiritualist and traditionalist that I have worked with in the past and some I’m still working with in regards to my questions, that you might give me a completely different answer because your gift is probably different from everyone else I have known. Some powers were given to some people, some were taught, some were bought, while for some people it is INATE.
Is like me saying in pidgin “A VILLAGE WHEN FAR, ANOTHER VILLAGE ‘DAY’ WEN FAR PASS AM”
You didn’t understand my comment completely because I wasn’t direct. That’s why at the end of my comment, I said, I hope you understand my questions.
That comment of mine wasn’t supposed be post in public platform by me, I always keep those kind of things private. I made a mistake, it was supposed be just Private(send to you privately) but I thought you might miss my mail, so as a result I might not get an answer. That’s why I dropped it here as a comment.
Lastly, I’m not EGOTISTICAL.
There are always going to be times when people are going to mistake my confidence for arrogance because they don’t understand the process I went through and how much I had to believe in myself in order to get to the point I am right now, in order for me to still me alive not dead.
I’m PROUD not ARROGANT. I’m not humble. I can’t feel less of myself. I don’t sell myself short. I think people should stop telling others to be humble, people need to start saying “BE AWESOME”. I’m Benjamin Franklyn Jr. standing with my head up high, soon to be FRANKLYN the GREAT.
Thank you ma’am, I love you so much, you know that. Please don’t forget am a student of life, am still your student. Nobody is perfect. Treat me…
God Bless You.
Stay Blessed and Be Safe.
Have a great and productive week.
Below is not a parable but a saying. I made a mistake in my comment above. Is supposed to be “you misinterpreted my SAYING as well”.
“But I know In life, there are levels. All fingers are not same likewise the head.
We have one VISIBLE HEAD but some people have SEVEN like some seven head spirits.
WE WERE NOT BORN EQUAL”
Benjamin, you never disappoint. Didn’t I write that you will come back and say that you already know what I am explaining?
Here is your comment:
“I’m very well acquainted with all you said in your reply to my comment. To be precise, all you said, I already knew long time ago,”
Here is mine:
“To answer your question about sacrifices not working for you (and I know you will come back and say you know this already,”
I do not know about you, but my enemy does not know everything, I always refer to myself as a student, a forever one. I am fascinated by life and the Universe and I can never stop learning it. When I learn something, I then share it here with you all.
Also, it is important that you read with understanding. When I wrote this:
“Be wise, although wisdom is not sold in shops, it is given to those who have released ego, and for those deemed worthy.”
It was not in any way aimed at you, it was a general statement.
Spirituality is broad and requires humility and patience in order to see and recognize Truth. If either of us is too sure that we “already know” everything, we will miss knowledge opportunities. And knowledge can come from anywhere, in any form, rich or poor, beggar, thief, or child.
.
However Benjamin, this is a place where we all come and learn,in peace, love and light. And no one here is or should ever be in competition for who knows what. For none of us knows anything, we are teachers, but we are also students eternally.
However, I am an elder in the eyes of the Universe and must be respected as such, for I have come very far in my own journey and I am doing my service to humanity.
P.S ALL of my stories, the ones I write about myself are 110% TRUE! If it is my story, I will blatantly say so, as I have since the inception of this blog. If the story does not belong to me, but I wish to teach from it, I will respect the person’s privacy and drastically change names and stick only to the main points and not every detail. If the story is just a fictional example for the purpose of making a point, this, too, will be stated.
I love you also my beloved. God Bless.
By the way, I did as instructed by you ma’am, I took my time to read it over and over again before I replied. Sacrifices works, that am certain about. I have done a lot that changed different situation. I have been on the road for long, I have seen what seem impossible turn possible just with the help of sacrifice. My question is not me insinuating that sacrifices doesn’t work, I used the word “SOMETIMES”
Thank you Lola. I always encourage people to read the comments, lots of jewels drops there.
I didn’t disappoint you when I wrote ” I’m very well acquainted with all you said in your reply to my comment. To be precise, all you said, I already knew long time ago”
That’s because it is true. The TRUTH IS CONSTANT. If I don’t know I will tell you, thank you for educating me.
The truth won’t change to fit a situation.
Most of what I said ‘I’m very well acquainted with”, i learned them from ES. Perhaps you have forgotten your blog is a source of vast spiritual knowledge. People’s comments and replies that are educative are saved in my notepad and colour note. I read them in my spare time and I do more research and ask questions about what am not familiar with or to.
I comment and reply with the intent to share knowledge, to learn and to grow. Not with the intent to argue. I read to understand, not to argue!
Let me state clearly that I asked you the questions with no intent to test you or compare you to anyone. It was simply to get more knowledge, there are things some elderly people have been privy to, that some others might not…
I guess I will stop writing(commenting and replying) for a while. I will just read. Perhaps until after I have given you a call (hopefully soon). I’m way too passionate, I think people always have misconception about someone like me. I understand why.
Apology by the side, if I have offended you in ways I might not understand.
Stay Blessed Ma’am.
I will not comment again, but Ben there you go again. If you offended me, I would tell you. I am an Aries woman, and we are blunt.
This is why in the first comment I told you to read and read again before you understanding you.
No one is chastising you or accusing you of anything. Your comments are welcome.
