It is good that in the midst of the birthday celebrations you remembered us and wrote a post.

In the post, you made mention of the pastor referring to “spirit spouses” as demons and the Yoruba use of the term egbe. You also acknowledged that the phenomena is present in other traditions.
Based on your vast knowledge and exposure, have you any knowledge of how the other traditions “treat/address” or solve the problem?
During your time as a Revivalist, were you ever presented with a similar case? How was it handled?
Is the Egbe “initiation” the only solution to the issue that you recommend?
Is that only accessible to IFA initiates?-

1) Yes, this is apart of every culture and every culture deals with it through a spiritual medium. We all know that if it is dealt with through religion, such as Christianity, the Spirit Wives/Husband are demonized and casted to hell. But in some places where this problem is dealt with through traditional practice, there are some “primitive” cultures that will dress a young woman or a young man of marital age a certain way as to ward off spiritual spouses. Also, outside of Christianity, and even in Africa and the Middle East, when a child reaches a certain age, he is put through a rites of passage. The rites of passage is to align the child with his spiritual self so that he can journey himself while in this Earth plane.
It may be described differently than how I am describing it here, but the whole gist of it from a spiritual sense, is to allow the child to enter within the realm of society as a physical being but aligned with his spirit. Now, when this is done, most often the contract that they have with their Spirit Family (if they belong to a society), the contract at that moment is re-shaped, as a rites of passage acts as an initiation into allowing the spiritual family to guide the child rather than oppressing him.
It is important to understand that the rites of passage rituals all affect energy. Even if there is no direct intent to solve a spirit family problem, the alignment of the spirit with the physical puts negatives back into order, and this would include the problem of the spirit family.
How one is put back into alignment is a matter of wisdom and cultural interpretation.
2) IB, please come close. I want to whisper something delicately in your ears, and your ears only (there may be some Zionist on the blog also, and even they may overhear what I am about to tell you, but what I will tell you is the truth).
Zion Revival actually operates through its energy, vibration, movements, sounds, intonations and symbols… as Egbe worship.
I would have to write a post on this which would be lengthy, so I doubt I will, and it will be very hard for me to explain it, much less to those who are involved in Zion. But Zion, through the Order of 60 Revival, travel through cities and it is the Jamaican cultural expressive interpretation of what the Yorubas call Egbe, unbeknownst to them.
As for the question, I have been presented with these cases many times, and of course I, also, had the same Egbe situation until I “initiated”. But I handled my cases through spirit (which I will teach more about in the Obeah class).
3) Remember Egbe has nothing to do with Ifa, it is separate and apart from Ifa, so you would not have to be an Ifa initiate to receive Egbe. And also, no, receiving Egbe is not the only solution to the problem. Another way is through spirit, but only if the practitioner is knowledgeable on this application like myself. Keep in mind that these energies are very powerful, so it is not anything to play with haphazardly.
Also, the Spirit families are infinite in variation. Some are the power of the deepest darkest part of the ocean, while others are where the lagoon is, others are the power of the bank of a river, the power of certain mountains, the power of the cave, and more. These are the “cities” that Revivalists travel through.

Hey Teach. Fascinating post and thank you for the style in which it was delivered. Made it (even more so) relatable!
You touched on spirit not remembering details of their human experience when they return. Why is that? Especially since Spirit has so much wisdom and some sign up to return multiple times. What purpose does it serve for Spirit to not recall details of their human lives?
Also, one’s Ori and guides can block the person’s Egbe from interfering with their human life? As was the case with Peresh and Lucy’s spirit guide? I thought guides and ancestors can’t get involved with Egbe “relations”.
Lastly, when a spirit husband lays with his wife as she sleeps, how does that manifest itself physically in her life? Other than feeling great love and passion in the “dream” when she can remember it.

1- it was communicated to me that when they travel back to their world their human experience is removed from their memory. They wake up as if what they have experienced was a nights dream or a dream from a nap. Even time does not count. It would make sense as when we are born here to this earth we do not remember that world. It is to keep the journey sacred to and from I believe

I particularly liked the explanation of malevolence. The details provided certainly provided a good foundation on which to debunk the concepts of good/bad/evil etc…I’d like deeper insight on the advice provided that we should be conscious of the ideas and information we share. There are many situations that we may encounter when we must reveal our plans to others whether through a request for days off, job letter, grant proposal etc…How do we still “function” without being susceptible to the spirits that may linger?
What is the role of my ori, ancestors and spiritual guides in this regard?As spirits, wouldn’t they have access to information that is not even shared verbally (thoughts/ideas)? Or are they only allowed to act/report on that which is spoken?

Thank you for the question. These types of Beings, to explain it in a layman term, are what we call unruly. Now when I say this, this does not mean that this is what sorcerers or magicians call them. But in the human ordinary way of speaking, we will describe them as such.
As I explained in the post, there are those who are sent by sorcerers/practitioners to do this type of work, and there are those that spread over the land coming from a different space within Time and Space. For example,
Apple may have someone working for them in their development of technology, and so will Samsung. One of these Beings that come from somewhere within Time and Space, will enter our world with a particular idea. This idea is thrown out into our atmosphere. The Apple engineer, while he sleeps, may tap into that power, and the Samsung engineer all the way across the world may do the same, and so will a plethora of people.
Now when the Apple engineer wakes up, he will believe that he has a new idea! And rightfully so, because the idea has been thrown into our atmosphere by these Beings that are unknowable to us. However, the Samsung engineer, who perhaps slept and did not remember what he dreamt, is somewhere sitting and having breakfast, while the Apple engineer is speaking to his wife about the idea that came to him this morning.
Now, the Samsung engineer knows he’s on to something but he can not put it together… but when the Apple engineer tells it all to his wife in his excitement, that energy that has already entered our Atmosphere now becomes fully present in the Samsung engineer’s mind, all because the Apple engineer opened his mouth and said it.
Now becomes the rush to see who first executes the idea and brings it to manifestation in the human world.
This is a higher calling than what your Ancestors can meddle with.
Now when it comes to your personal life and things that are happening with these monitoring spirits who are monitoring you, your consciousness, that is your Ori, or your Ancestral Spirits or Spirit Guides (all different degrees of Beings, but will explain their function in another post), will show you signs either through visions, dreams, or give you the insight to feel that something watching you. It is now for you to seek an oracle (i.e. a spiritualist or oracular object) to reveal what is happening in the invisible world.

It should be noted that they are not always in your presence unless sent, however there are those that I wrote of in the answer to Intellectual Bhutu that are here to throw out ideas to the world and who can capture it and manifest it.

Good morning my dear, it is for us to know and understand that we can seal off our space with power words pronounced with specific intonations. The problem is knowing these words and how to pronounce them so that they can be effective as a seal. Unfortunately I cannot teach them here and will only do so in my classes (not advertising my classes, I am just being honest).
However, they (monitoring spirits) are not always around everyone, most often they are sent. We just have to be alert as to a change in our lives or within our environment so when to know when things have shifted around us. Then seek help! -

More strength and blessings to you.Something struck me about this article. I sometimes smell something “off” at a particular spot in my house, and I seem to be the only one who can. It’s a spot where nothing can hide so it makes no logical sense. I used to pray to ward off any negative spirit whenever that happened, although I wasn’t sure what or why it was happening.
There were a few times in the past where I’d feel like I had just walked into a spider web or my face would feel covered by spider webs. I would also feel very disturbed by that and pray about it. Talking about these things with people around me always made me feel a little crazy.
