THE POWER OF WORDS

download

Most of these blogs post I sit and write myself, daily, and often times they are not short, (I make no apology for their length), because I have much to say on most topics that I write about. Looking back at some of these posts, I realize that they are often overlooked, not discussed enough perhaps, or commented upon. As newer posts are up, the older ones are lost in a stream of older postings. I feel it is correct for me to re-post some of them and this one I believe is a benefit to all of us, enjoy!

Words are powerful, yes they are. Most of us use words daily without any regard to the effect it may have upon us, our children or our circumstances. Along with words there is the sound which comes with it, which gives it, its potency. Words, Sound, Power!, Words, Sound, Power! Words Sound Power! To remember this is to give you the ability to command at will and to confirm to the Universe, to your guides, your needs. You must speak with Power and Authority. This is not telling you to shout, contrary to what you may believe you do not have to shout to get what you want, or you do not have to shout to be heard, well if someone is far away that’s a given, but otherwise, you do not have to. We have got to take responsibility for our lives and what we do, how we speak and what we put out to the world.

There are parents who speak to their children badly, calling them names such as “Worthless”, “Bums”, “Whores”, “Liars”, “Thieves” , and when they grow up and become these things, you cry and wonder where did you go wrong? Often times in a marriage, both partners are good to each other and their characters are compatible together, but as with human beings no one is perfect, so one begins to doubt the other and if a quarrel ensues, one calls the other a cheat or a liar, this can be done in an accusatory tone or in a tone where it is stated as a fact.  Eventually when one is found to be doing as he or she has been accused of, to the other who spat the accusation it may seem to prove what they have been saying all along, but often times, it is the energy which was called through Words, Sound Power! The Universe is alive and pulsating. We are surrounded by energy fields unseen to our physical eyes. Non-physical beings are present all the time. They are not always benevolent. Benevolence and Malevolence are constant companions. They are never far from each other. They have a job to do with us human beings in this realm, they are our teachers, our testers, our invigilators. Working in compliance and in accordance to the will of our creator. We create our circumstances through many things, and so do our parents, who has the ability to curse or bless us, also our elders and juniors, through words. It is pivotal for us to know how to speak, not only about ourselves but also about our lives and to our children.

Many of us pray, but do we really know what prayer is. Why are we urged to do so by religious elders, priests and prophets alike, and by our religions? It is simple to say to someone “I will pray for you”, and while you may do so, if affirmation is not placed upon the words you utter, it goes nowhere!  (I will write a post explaining how to do this. Words, Sound, Power! Keep in mind that you do not, I repeat, do not have to shout for your words to resonate and find its hold into the crevices of the Universe where it will be carried to the council of Elders which will direct your prayers to God for it to be answered. I have written here on Embracing Spirituality about our guides who are with us constantly. Our Spirit Guides , in this post I wrote of the mystery guide who guides us quietly from behind. This guide is attached to our soul, our higher self, which lives within the realm of spirits but has sent its essence almost like a hologram to be with us, this guide show its self to us, but we do not know it,  we see it as our shadow. This is the guide who assist you with your needs for this life. This is the guide who hears your words and direct them accordingly. This guide is aligned directly to your soul consciousness which resides on another plane, it wants the best for you and can give you anything you desire but the correct thoughts, and words and commands have to be put forward.

Even if it knows what you ask for is wrong, if the command has the effect it needs to bring it forward it will bring it forward. Remember, although your guides can influence our life’s decisions it cannot interfere with our free will . If the negative wants, needs or desires has no command but is consistent or fixed in your mind or voiced, however softly ,it builds power which vibrates outward, and these things are given to you, when this happen you blame God or place it on your fate. Muttering to your self that your kid is stupid, and when he turns around and ask if you just called him stupid and you deny it, it does not lessen the fact that it has been heard and signed. You have cursed your own child and have sealed his fate. I have to let you know this however, there are some children who has come to the world, richer in spirit than others, strong in their determination to make it in life, without them even knowing it, however it is seated within the child’s inner consciousness, its Ori (head or inner being), as it is called in Yoruba, where it is said the child has chosen a GOOD, head. These words however terrible, will not have the effect upon him or her, because of the strength of their Ori. They may slow the child down some what, presenting some obstacle along life’s way but only for a while, never really having its true effect. I have written in the post People we meet about my son, and when he became disrespectful, I said things in my anger against him and now it pains me to watch him, hurt, over the treatment of some horrible girl. My words not only affected him, but also myself. I have since forgiven him, and he has somewhat changed his attitude to me, but what remains in our lives are the effects of the Curse Words which I, who knew better spewed at him in anger, May God Forgive me and release him from this Curse and his wretched girl!

We have to optimize our lives, bring it into focus and work on ourselves. We must be born again! What this means is we must replace the old with the new. In our thoughts, in our words and in our actions. It makes no sense to say to yourself and another “I am on a spiritual path”, and there is no change in your character or how you view the world or how you carry yourself or how you speak. Words, Sound, Power! Rearrange your vocabulary, words used positively will give you positive outcome. If you tell yourself that you will never be ill, and you believe it, YOU WILL NEVER BE ILL!. If you say, you will never get married, you will be a spinster living with fifty cats, then please begin picking out  those cats from now because this will be your life. You have no one to blame but you. I love Yoruba people for many reasons, I believe that they are some of the smartest. wisest people around. They gives names to their children that many will, On our side of the world will find strange, but there is wisdom to this that they do. Among the names given to the children are Good Luck as in their Presidents Good Luck Johnathan name, Blessing, Success, Thank God, Prosperity, Patience, to name a few. They place great importance on naming a newborn child. A naming ceremony is done eight days after the baby is born, and every name has a meaning. They have began the child’s journey here in a good and positive way. My husband once asked me the meaning of my Name, I stared at him, embarrassed.

Words to remove from your vocabulary are….

  1. I can’t
  2. If
  3. Doubt
  4. Try
  5. I don’t think
  6. I don’t have the time
  7. Maybe
  8. I’m afraid of
  9. I don’t believe
  10. It’s impossible.
  11. Hate
  12. any type of curse words,(they are uneducated fillers)

Replace these words with…

  1. I can
  2. I will
  3. Expect the best
  4. Commit
  5. I know
  6. I will make the time
  7. Positively
  8. I am confident
  9. I do believe
  10. All things are possible.
  11. Love
  12. kind words and thoughts

Make the best of you time here on earth. While we earn to survive here and take care of ourselves and our families we must also learn. Life is a school and so our words which we use to communicate everyday must work for us in a positive way, look what it did for Oprah!.  She has the gift of Gab, but she has always said that  for all her life she affirmed to herself in words what she has achieved today.Lady Gaga has said that her mantra was always “I will be rich and famous one day”, she said she put that out into the Universe, and we all know who Lady Gaga is. Words, Sound Power!  In Our tradition of Ifa/Orisha we use incantations in everything we do!. Using power words to achieve what we want, and it works, It works!. We have power, we must use it in a very responsible, positive way!

“Words are pale shadows of forgotten names. As names have power, words have power. Words can light fires in the minds of men. Words can wring tears from the hardest hearts.”
― Patrick RothfussThe Name of the Wind

“silence is the language of god,
all else is poor translation.”
― Rumi

“When you’re drowning you don’t think, I would be incredibly pleased if someone would notice I’m drowning and come and rescue me. You just scream.”
― John Lennon

“There is something about words. In expert hands, manipulated deftly, they take you prisoner. Wind themselves around your limbs like spider silk, and when you are so enthralled you cannot move, they pierce your skin, enter your blood, numb your thoughts. Inside you they work their magic.”
― Diane SetterfieldThe Thirteenth Tale

“But if thought corrupts language, language can also corrupt thought.”
― George Orwell1984

The right word may be effective, but no word was ever as effective as a rightly timed pause.
Mark Twain

The more the words, the less the meaning, and how does that profit anyone?
Ecclesiastes 6:11

Words – so innocent and powerless as they are, as standing in a dictionary, how potent for good and evil they become in the hands of one who knows how to combine them.
Nathaniel Hawthorne

Proverbs 18:7 (KJV) states, “a fool’s mouth is his destruction, and his lips are the snare of his soul”.  For better understanding let’s look at what the NIV says, “The mouths of fools are their ruin; they trap themselves with their lips”.

Positive anything is better than negative nothing.

Elbert Hubbard

Once you replace negative thoughts with positive ones, you’ll start having positive results.

Willie Nelson

Every day we have plenty of opportunities to get angry, stressed or offended. But what you’re doing when you indulge these negative emotions is giving something outside yourself power over your happiness. You can choose to not let little things upset you.

Joel Osteen

Handle them carefully, for words have more power than atom bombs. –Pearl Strachan

Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. –Jesus Christ

The trouble with talking too fast is you may say something you haven’t thought of yet. –Ann Landers

Language has three important uses–it expresses thought, conceals thought, and takes the place of thought. –Unknown

Good day Obara
Did you write the article on how to effectively pray using affirmations on the words we utter?

hi TY, Out of the Ten Commandments, the third
and ninth are closely related. The third
declares “Thou shalt not take the name of
the LORD thy God in vain” (Exodus 20:7),
and the ninth states, “Thou shalt not bear
false witness against thy neighbour” (Exodus
20:16). Both commandments are concerned
with speech: the one has reference to God,
the other to man. This fact shows the
importance of the words we speak. Let’s
examine more scripture.

Words have a tremendous impact on us.
Whatever words we utter should be chosen
with care for people will hear them and be
influenced by them for good or evil. The
basic tool for the manipulation of truth is the
manipulation of words. If one can control the
meaning of words, one can control the
people who use those words. Likewise, the
basic tool for the preservation of truth is the
preservation of God’s words.

The English language has got to be the most powerless and boring language ever…no wonder patois so nice…today as I prayed, i remembered a latin catholic prayer and in saying it, i felt the power…I used to go to mass in english and latin, I always enjoyed the latin better…it goes to show the power of the words…

So Obara does it mean it doesn’t matter how you learn (for development sake) about positive/negative, forgiveness, love, hate, compassion etc. We learn by experiencing and emotions. It just matters that we do learn? How we learn it is based on free will?
Mi deh try pose the question in a sensible way but ie nuh seem fi deh woek out a baxide! Di question mek sense

Yes Nunu, free will is a big part…with free will the future possibilities are endless…what is written can take a detour, take longer, be harder cent depending on how we utilize our free will…

I am trying to figure out the guide that’s attached to our soul. Our life has already been planned for us by our higher selves. Even though the course of life has already been charted, does our free will.affects the way it’s played out?

Word.sound. power, I’m glad for the repost as well. Sometimes we allow our emotions to take over and lead us and we say the negative or dumbest/ most hurtful things and trap ourselves or someone else in misery. We have to remember how powerful words are

Thanks for reposting Obara! This was right on time. I needed to read this today. I just spent hours last night screaming at my 19 year old son for some awful foolishness he did. SMH. Though I am angry, I will be more conscious about my words.

Anyway, just passing through. Good morning everyone! Have a blessed day, all!
