This Thursday November 6th will be our book club discussion our Ty have provided the material which you will find the link below. She also will be the one to moderate on the topic placed forward. Yw twisted and reshaped our thoughts with this las discussion and it was fun! We all enjoyed it, it was very good, well done Yw, thank you very much. It is unfortunate that I did not see my regulars to show support, but it is what it is, nuff love same way. Book Club begins @ 8pm, please make an effort to be here, knowledge is power, let us learn together.
Oprah needs no introduction, and she is the one to always interview others, but when it comes to her being interviewed, wow! This woman is quite interesting, really interesting, please watch, enjoy and learn!
Obara thank you thank you for this site. Ty you did an awesome job last night. What I would tell my younger self is just because you tell people no doesn’t mean you are a bad person, because everyone doesn’t deserve a yes.

Lol…we all need validation in some way or form…but donot need to get drunk in it…if it means anything, I value you and your thoughts, opinions, ideas, prayers, and love Cami….
MTH I am glad you are in good spirits, ladybug. Have a great weekend.
Yazzy, beautifully said. I didnt answer TY’s question, as what would I tell my younger self.
I would tell my younger self to not to be in such a rush. To take things slow and appreciate everything. I would tell me younger self to trust my ori more and try to be comfortable and learn the lesson for whatever stage in am.
Prefect M! Thank you. Mi happy fi see yuh ya caz I know you been having some issues wit Internet access at work and home…
I loved Ty’s question on what we would tell our younger selves. It forces you to now realize that your entire life has been a learning experience/experiment. It forces you to review your spirit rather than your surroundings and the material accomplishments.
Hey everyone, afternoon to you all…at work and just a drop it and run out…I am happy that all of you could get something out of the book club and also see how all we have learned is used and practiced by Oprah…
For all the bad that has happened to me and has been done to me…I am stronger, wiser, and more confident…I have learned those lessons well and am closer to God and am working on connecting more to me…
Yazzy, MTH, Obara, Kia, Cami and everyone…the love ova ya so nuff..have a great weekend..

Plz pardon my absence of I could have been here I would certainly have made it happen. I just wrote up a long ass comment and my silly phone just dumped everything! Suh mek a try dis again…. Ty I loved the content you chose. Oprah may have made some choices that most don’t agree with but those were her choices. I respect her as a person and a powerful, strong, influencial black woman that used her platform… Read more »
That’s why I love this blog. Teach, yu drape mi up and remind me just how much I have. Each time I get off, I will always remember this day.
Let me add to what I have and continue to count by blessings. I have extremely good health. While almost everyone around me has gotten Chick-V, LIttle M and I have not gotten it. Yesterday, Little M came home and told me she is in the top of her class. Someone sent me their resume to update it as they think I am good in this area.
Good morning Obara MTH I second Obara on that MTH yu my nuh think yu lucky but luk weh yu av instead of wah yu naave

Everyone seems to have gone to bed…thanks for coming out tonight…do you all remember, Oprah’s book club? lol..
Have a wonderful night and sweet dreams…
Same to you Ty.
Your are welcome Ty and thank you and all bloggers for coming to this OUR site!
Thank you too my fellow ES family for being open, sharing, and loving…
Thanks Ty, I enjoyed this very much!
Thank you Obara for this space and opportunity to share, blog, and learn…this interview with Oprah shed light on us all, that we have keys right here…we need to continue to use them to continue to open doors…
Thanks Obara for being so open, honest, and sharing with us…
as we are winding down, I hope you all got something out of this…if it it is even just confirmation of all that you have learned here thru ESp and Obara already…
I’d say to my younger self. Relax! Learn to focus and pay attention. Don’t let your fears stand in your way
I would tell my younger self not to be so fearful, your life will come into form as you grow, just flow with it and listen to your voice within!
I’d tell mines not to be so damn angry so that I can read people better.
my last question to you all, is what would you tell your younger self?
I would tell my youngerself: ” you are strong, beautiful, a child of God, loving, and have a right to be here!!!”
13. Last but not least…I think the best thing/tip she dropped was that the ultimate goal is to attain the highest, truest expression of yourself
That way, you’ll live your best life possible. Amen
Yes Nunu
Will it be outside validation that determines you best or you?
12. get as much from your loses and failures as your victories… boy I can attest to this one…
Yes Ty, because you learn from them. Great lessons come from things that challenge. Obara teach us that too. Not disappointments but lessons learned
some of my greatest lessons in life were from my loses and failures…they showed me my strengths, even when I thought I had none…they also showed me my weaknesses…
Those 2 are number one teachers and they are constant so them make perfect mentors.
Night, night all….busy day tomm….
Goodnight Yw
Night, night.
11. fill up yourself then you can give to others…
the oxygen mask analogy, like she said is one with this…
Yes I like that too Ty, if you don’t fill yourself up first you get depleted and wont be of any use
yes Nunu, we often are looking to others, when we really have to first look inward…
This is why I don’t care about validation…if I don’t approve then what’s the sense of even regarding outside opinion? Yeah, one can be hard on them self and nothing seems right, but that’s a personal battle and no outsider can break through validation. One cannot reach self actualization (Maslow’s theory) base on outside approval…that individual alone will know when they reach that level. Wonder if Oprah believe she reach that level?
I also like when she says, being born at the right time is important
Yes Nunu, she talked about there being a supreme destiny…
ok..the hardest one to swallow…there are no mistakes…so true…can be a bitter one to swallow…
She also stressed the importance of journaling…which we are all embracing here…we have touched on most of her points here on this blog in some capacity or another…
So, Reason over emotions?
Logic and emotion still close together, in that, if we always only logical then we become apathetic and if we only always emotional we become vulnerable to predation….balance is necessary
Got yuh Yw
I am here
Yes Nunu yuh Neva suit nutten yet lol
Submit
Which two Cami? Who?
“loses and failures” These two.
Oh ok Cami
Gn cami
Cami it goes deeper than that however, at times being validated makes you feel appreciated and it shapes confidence also, many don’t do things for validation but they will ask is all well? because within most people there is that within which wants to hear yes from the other person!
I like how she said that although she is not afraid to try anything, she “stays in my lane”…
Validation is important to everyone. All our arguments are really about did you hear me, did you see me, did what I say mean anything to you. True right?
Doing things for validation isn’t good.
Well I think everyone wants to be heard and seen in some capacity or another
Validation does not have to come from without. That is a part of becoming more spiritual (to me) but in that same breath we all seek validation and do not come into form until we feel as if we are at peace with who we are….
I had a coworker (well trained in psychology) tell me that she has observed that I don’t take compliments well…she said that I should just be humble when complimented. Normally, I would pass off a compliment like me swatting at a fly…I still do, so validation isn’t my thing. When I do something I aim for it to be my best and I know it turn out as such…my very best I compliment myself…I really don’t tek compliments because I don’t think its sincere- my perception.
so true Nunu, most of our gripes can fall under one of these…
10. do not only give based on emotions, but also logics…I am still learning this one…
Yes finding the balance between the two is really important. I like it when she said you have to change the way a thinks you have to create a sense of hopefulness and aspiration so a person can envision better for themselves instead of just pouring money into them
Do not do things for validation should also be added to this.
9. Gratitude is the single most treasure… I agree with this sooo much
What are your thoughts on when she says everyone needs validation?
Yes Ty, you have to know how to use your platform, what propels the action is the intention. Result, consequence and reaction. I like that tuh
Choices, choices….intent behind actions. “We all are seeking validation” powerful…
8. “what propel the action is the intention”…boom line that… I will be stealing this one
Lol Ty I didn’t realize that you wrote that line Mi like it too!
lol…no prob…
Oprah is calculated and she understands what it is to be aware. Did you hear when she said she knows the time here on earth as a human being is very short and she has more to do. She said that what is valued changes with time and in our period fame is valued. She uses the fame to her benefit and the benefit of her agenda, she put on the “swagger” because she knows people will pay attention simply because they value her fame, but it is just the foundation, there’s alot more to be said. She pays attention… Read more »
she understands how to use and manipulate energy…she stated that she made a decision to not let TV use her but to use TV to her purpose…
7. 3rd law of motion: for action there is an equal and opposite reaction
Application of principles or rules to parts of our life….rules of economics, physics, biology, etc…
Hey Yw,
oonuh realize that all that she does seems effortless though, she doesn’t fight against the flow of the river of life, but rather she goes with it!
yes…she shows that side to the world..she also said, she works on staying awake…wow!
Yes Obara yuh hear when shi said is when shi don’t listen to her gut and let her rational mind overide her instinct things nuh guh right
Hey Obara!! She does know how to navigate within the worlds she is a part of: corporate, spiritual, material, etc
6. perfect your craft…
so ok, you connected, got your life reading, have mentors…then what, perfect your craft…
With opportunity you can perfect your craft.
And here is line for you, and you, and you….. Yw iz ‘ere…. Good night all, Ofry was good in this: listen to yourself in the quiet…
“Go placidly amid the noise and haste and remember what peace there is in silence”…think me a follow Ofry…lol
Hi YW!
Hey Cams!!! Nice…
5. knowing that you hold your future and not others…
this took me a while in my life to learn…no one can deny you of what is yours, they can only delay it..
4. …”knowing what you do not like will lead you to what you like, even when you do not know what that is”….profund…
for all who are stuck, this is a great tip
That is most certainly true.
If I’m doing something for someone (admin or project) I ask “What don’t you like?” once I get that I know what to do because I already know what not to do…same method has Oprah’s I apply to my life and tasks.
She also touches on women inequality with her pay difference at the job from 1979 to 1980, where she asked for a raise and was given a round about answer…she took this as her que to boogey out of there whenever something else came along…
my god mother used to tell me ” kiss smelly ass until you can kick it, and when you do kick it, do not look back”
Yes mumzy tell mi dat tuh Ty! Kick ass before yuh can kick it
My favorite line is her quote from Maya Angelou, ” I come as one but stand as 10,000″….I live by this, I tell people all the time, I am 11th generation from slavery and I have di whole a dem behind me, ready
Yes Ty I love it too. When she said she didnt let race or gender of whoever is in the room get to her. When she said I am from a heritage. I call on my ancestors and bring that energy in the room with me. Wi learn dat tuh!
yes Nunu, when I watched it, I felt like it was playbook for this blog…like she is a peeper…
She speaks like a person who had been read for and had found out her life path, her real reason for being here, she is deeper than we think
yes, I agree, her confidence is 100%…she also towards the end stated, that she has not done her full job yet..
Me don’t like yu! me love yu because you just reveal why me find this woman to be a wolf in sheep clothing.
Yes Obara she really seem like she has a certain understanding
She does for true. She cant fool me loool oprah reads Es n may be a blogger forall i know.
she outlined some of the ways to make opportunities line up, for luck phenomenom to happen, and for your to find your path…
Yes everybody wants to fulfill the highest, truest expression of themselves as a human being, it doesn’t matter if it’s being a baker, doctor, carpenter etc. We all have a platform. We learn that here too
Cami what you have just described is destiny, luck is a false reality, i use the wind analogy because like energy, we can only feel it never see it, luck is what belongs to you in life, often time through juju wuk and stolen opportunity you can make it happen, but the realness of what is good and pleasant comes from your life path!
…at this stage I need juju to clear out the human barriers blocking my path. I’ve set my self up (position like a goalie) but human factors blocking me path. There are other options and like Oprah states I know what I want and desire and know it’s my path.
3. finding your way, and biding your time…she talked extensively about he rtime as a reporter and knowing it was not for her but was wading through to find what she was to be…
I liked it when she said you have to live from the inside out, to follow your instincts, and listen to your gut. Don’t let what the world say is right, detemine your decision listen to what feels right to you. Love it!
Yes Nunu, I like that too…
being true to your authentic self is hard, and sometimes may not go with what society deems for you
Basically she saying trust your Ori… Which Obara has been telling us to do
yes Toy, she is, but she also explains that there is more to it…being connected, being prepared, etc
Hey Toy.
Toy, there are things that many will not do to prepare and connect for that luck.
I believe in mentors I had three, and often times I wonder about me being what those three were to me, and I look at people and feel sorry for them in that
“Hey Obara is here, and I would be a real good mentor for you, can’t you see me, its for free why aren’t you taking advantage of it, o ma se oooooo!
3. finding your skill, your purpose, and being true to yourself…finding that connection…allowing things to align… I feel that is what we are trying here…
Yes Ty, the part about connection being far more important than what you do. The connection to your inner self and that higher consciousness/supreme being help you walk in your purpose. We’ve been learning that here
Check, check, check…but there’s that human factor that will block the end game which is success.
I look as luck as the wind, which is unpredictable, depending where you are you can catch the coolness of it, or it may just breeze past you, sometimes it blows hot other times it blows cold. Luck is also seizing the moment and making what is to be yours, it is not dwelling on the negative but always expecting the positive, in other words you can create what is luck!
So true, we can manifest what we conjure and make it a reality…but so many other things have to fall in place and line up…you have to be ready, prepared, and willing…
Ty, most often all the “ducks are in a row” yet that luck don’t even peep at you…destiny?
Cami i agree ducks ina row n luck still pass u by. Whats up with that? its not ur life destiny it just its ib the cards for some. But u have to satisfy n be content with whats urs.
2. she also talked about the roles mentors played in her development… I truly believe that you need a mentor to help you and to bounce ideas off of…someone who has done it before to guide you…your path is still your own and often you can even surpass the mentors…do u have any mentors?
Obara speaks of her Padrino, her mother, and Mr. Pierre…who were all pivitol in her development…
now she is here for us, to mentor and guide us all…thank you
I had people who gave me great advise but then when that elusive “luck” don’t show up I got angry and abandon the mentors as being liars and waste of me time.
Idk bout that luck thing. It can be ur lifes destiny why things good or bad
I agree with you Kia on that
Hence, why luck is just a phenomenon to me (losing me money at the casino and not a hint of “lady luck” anywhere near by, lol)
Notice Oprah is a one of a kind on this continent…
Hey Toy
I think luck is opportunity plus action
Opportunity – yes but you have to create that.
action and prepardness… You have to be positioned for that to become luck which I still call a phenomenon because many (my self included) have done all that and luck haven’t come our way…so luck is just a phenomenon.
do u argee with her definition and when have you been lucky?
Cami why u dont dig her?
Something off about her…
Cami you are right, what you are sensing is that she does not present her true self to you or to the world, many parts are hidden, and rightfully so…she touched on it a bit by saying that she realized that fame was to be used as a vehicle to get your voice heard…
Good night everyone, sorry I am late. I am going to read and catch up
WE are looking into elevating and embracing ourselves…what are your thoughts on luck?
Luck? One has to position themselves to “catch” that phenomenon.
I like her interpretation of what luck is, it’s all about opportunity and preparedness. All of it is due to paying attention to what’s happening around you. Know when to wait and when to make a move
I agree Nunu…timing is always crucial…
I watched the shorter version video n i can agree with what she said. She is a awake n trying to be the best human she can be. Okay oprah lol i think she over here reading
Me can see right up unda oprah! lolol sorry Ty.
Loool big big oprah a show front mi shame an ano mi
1. Luck = preparation meeting opportunity
Hey Cami, Nunu, Kia
Cami, we can still learn from her
Not going to take anything from her…just don’t dig her like I do with many females.
Good night Folks. Nice subject matter Ty…not a big fan of her though.
Big thoughts in this vid, though: “one and 10,000”, living up to our potential: being the best you you can be…
lets dissect some of these
I felt like she was putting into words many things we talked about
Oprah needs no real intro but I wanted to say she is an inspiration to many and I wanted us to here from her…her goals…her thoughts
Welcome, I am so happy you made it, I know you are busy…
Yailings Ty, Kia
I am here..
Goodnight folks! I’m almost done with the video give mi a few please
Hey everyone, thanks for coming in tonight..
Good night everybody busy tonight?! i dont know much about oprah i havent watched her much since color purple n brewsters place someone can fill me in please
I swear that Color purple role was the most energetic part of that movie, including the dinner table scene with whoopie.
very True Cami, I remember that scene very well
“’til you do right by me, Harpo….”
