FASTING WORKS

images (4)

Good morning all. I got up this morning and while doing my daily prayer and meditations, it came to me that I should fast. This message has been coming to me since I came back from Africa, but I have been so busy that I forgot to take a moment out for myself and do it. When I practiced the Christian religion, I fasted a lot, and I saw great results. During those times, the wicked baby father, and I had parted ways, so I was very young and on my own with my children. In times of woe, we seek God. It sounds funny, but it is true. Often times when you are so busy with life, or even partying, when woe, disappointment, sorrow, problems, despair and all things that belongs to this negative family comes your way, even if you had taken the divine for granted, knowing that “it” exists (I do not like to refer to God as a gender, since it is not, so I will call the divine source which is God “it”, in some post I have referred to God with gender, but it was for the readers better understanding) when faced with problems, you seek it (God) out and all its comforts, regardless of your religious belief. I have always prayed for a spiritual school, I have accomplished a part of it this year when I began the online classes, this is an introduction to the school which will manifest to the physical plane. There are adversaries who do not wish me well, so I pray against their negative minds , and I trample them, always. No weapon formed against me shall prosper, and all who wish me good please remember me in your prayers and as you fast, I leave the wicked to God

Fasting can be viewed as a religious observance or Spiritual discipline. It is setting your meal time aside in favor of communicating with God, your divine source. The time you would spend on eating is used to focus on God, either in prayer, reading the Bible, the Koran or anything associated with your faith. (I am an Initiate of Osun so I will spend my fasting time before my shrine in prayer) Embracing the divine and allowing the divine which is in you to access you, free from the encumbrances of your daily existence to which food is one of them, a needed one but one never the less,. I am a parent and planning everyday meals is not easy much less preparing them for my crew. Know that it is going to be more likely for you to feel more hungry when you fast. Even if you a were a person who normally would not eat until night time, when you begin this journey, you will feel as if you want food as early as when you wake. This is what the Christ (according to the bible) went through by way of temptation, so temptation will happen, you will want to eat, Yield not to it! The noise in your belly will screech, groan and cry like demons trying to escape, pay no attention to them. In your minds eye you will see flashes of food, yes, this happens, again ignore them, your are just being tested. You may even forget and put a candy in your mouth, these are all apart of the test, Endure! Wasn’t this suppose to be a short post?

As usual I have a story for this, more than one actually, but I will give you this one. When I broke up with the wicked baby father, times were hard. He had money and he could help me, but he did not. I had my Beauty Salon and I was a month behind in my rent, which was sixteen hundred dollars. By this time, I had some spiritual knowledge and I knew that a certain psalms could be used if repeated a certain amount of times while calling one of God’s names, but this must only be used if really needed and cannot be used but once per year. I did not want any problems with the Land lord. I had been in his place for five years and I had just recently began to falter (being late) with his rent. So I decided to go on a fast, beseeching God for help. During those times, I was apart of Zion, so I was Christian, although Zion was a Spiritual Church, we worshiped Jesus and prayed in his name. I went home and set my dinning room table with seven glasses of water, (one day I will write on the importance of the Number seven), in the center I placed a white candle and I placed the Bible there on the table turned to the psalms I needed for this fast, then I placed a package of unsalted Jamaican water crackers, or as we Jamaicans call it, tough crackers,  you have to have teeth to eat dem suckers! I fasted for three days, from six in the morning to six in the evening, and on the third day, the day I broke the fast, a client brought the money to me, someone who saw my distress but I had never asked her for anything, she knew what I was going through and she helped me, she paid my shops rent for five months straight and told me that I did not have to pay her back even though I insisted! Fasting Works, I cannot stress it enough! Now when you fast you will choose how long you will do this. Whether it will be for one day, three, five or seven even a month as the Muslims do during Ramadan. Choose an odd number day to begin and end your fast, either for One day or Three, which I told you is the number of completion, but if you can only go for One day it is also good, it matters not how long. What matters is the Intention, the discipline and the dedication! If you are neither Christian, Muslim, Buddhist, traditionalist or Rasta, if you have no religion or are involved with any traditional practice, it matters not. This is between you and your divine source, go ahead and fast. Make it be a routine thing that you do, do it sincerely and regularly, it will help you and even change you eventually even if yuh wicked and bad mind. Some people fast often, but seated within them is hate wickedness, jealously and evil, perhaps ah dat dem fast fah, we leave them to God.

The time to begin your fast is important also. As a matter of fact we all fast without knowing it. When we get up in the mornings, what do we have? Our Breakfast, which is your first meal of the day, because as you slept, your were without food, so you fasted and lived through it! So having your first meal of the day is actually breaking your fast. Set your alarm for Six am, as a matter of fact try to get up and wash yourself and clean up in preparation for your fast, so get up around 5:30. Many of us are on the move and cannot set up a table as I did, but place a glass of water on you kitchen counter or somewhere safe from intruding hands with a white saucer covering it. Your first prayer for the fast should be in a quiet space where no one will disturb you unless you are fasting with other people of your household, then you all will gather to pray together. You can read your bible or Koran if you choose, for Christians it does not have to be a Psalms, I used to open the bible at random and whatever page it landed on, that is what I read, that to me was my message, for non religious people, use your utterances, say your own prayers, God will hear you, of this I am sure. After you pray at six am, get ready to begin your day. Keeping in thought that you are on fasting and as such you should humble yourself like a little child, no cursing at the driver who is driving slowly  in the fast lane, ignore it if the husband left the cover off the tooth paste again or if your little daughter put your favorite lipstick on the cat and If the nosy neighbor who reported you to the neighborhood association says hello to you, greet her with a smile, not a snicker. Keep in tuned with your fast, allow nothing or no one to upset, deter or take you off track.

Pray again at nine, o’clock. If you are at work, dealing with customers, pray in your head, if you are home go sit by your glass of water lift off the saucer and pray over the water, it is this water which you will use to break your fast. For you at work even though your water is at home, when you get there you will also drink from the water, even if you have broken the fast before you got home. The next prayer will be at twelve o’clock pm, then at three pm and you break at six in the evening.  Please note that you do not have to break at 6 pm, some people with health problems may find this difficult, so you can break at 12 noon. Did you notice that the prayer are three hours apart?<<<<Ode to the number Three>>>. Again the Fasting hours are from 6 am, 9 am, 12 pm, 3 pm and 6 pm, You can even do evening fasting which may be easier for some, from 6 pm, 9 pm, 12 am 3 am break it at 6 am! Or from 12 am to 6 am, this is night fasting, but it brings about a different kind of energy, so for now leave this one alone for now, because of it temptation. Note that evening fasting is good, but the temptation especially in the three am hours will take strength to resist. When it comes the hour for you to break your fast, say you prayer, ask your petition and sip your water slowly, you can eat a cracker or drink a light tea, like mint, have a light but healthy dinner, no big ole tough Cow foot or Pig trotters. Although you have broken your fast. Keep in “holy” mode for as long as you can. What I mean by this is, don’t break your fast then call up you sister and curse her out for picking up your child late from school, or knock on the neighbors door and chew her out for what she did to your dog. Keep in tune with your Spiritual experience. Hum a song in your mind or out loud, speak in a quiet tone, be nice, as best as you can be to all, even if you have been playing the role of the shrew all your life, bury that person and try to renew yourself.

Remember that if you have no faith in whatever you endeavor, nothing will work. Your mind is a Universe all on its own and you can create your own reality. Imagery projects reality, so as you fast visualize what you are fasting for. Bring it alive in your mind! Command it to come forth, and it will! It absolutely will! Do not abuse this concept however, by visualizing Nancy’s sexy boyfriend to be yours instead, or for your boss to write you a big check, it will not happen or even if it does, it will not last or you will be caught. Try in all things to be benevolent.

OM, that ‘s a great reply that you gave, and just the type that I was looking for…HAYYY! I’ve tried fasting, twice, and it was more because I wanted to participate in the purpose it the fasting session was intended for, but I didn’t really feel it and couldn’t wait to eat! 😀 😀 Now, i’m going to do it with more gusto because it isn’t a christian thing.
