Just Before You Sleep: How to End Your Day with a Spiritual Routine

The Encyclopedia defines the word discipline as “an activity that is done regularly as a way of training yourself to do something or to improve your behavior.”

If a person says that they’re on their spiritual path, seeking to become Awake, seeking to evolve in consciousness — if such a person does not have discipline, they can not be on their path. If you are a person, who are, as many people like to call themselves, “unruly” or “stubborn”, or adhere to no one but your own whim, then you need to know that your curiosity about spirituality, is just that.

One of the first steps of being on a course to Consciousness Awakening is discipline and obedience. I start this post off this way because of the information I am about to share with you today about ending your day, which is absolutely very important. One of my bloggers sent me a mail about a post I did some years ago about How to Start Your Day with a spiritual routine, and in that email, she asked me to do a post on ending your day, and it was then, that I realized that I hadn’t.

We, as humans, must understand that as we travel the Earth each day, we are being guided by our Spirit in everything that we do. However, most of us, do not listen to the Spirit that guides us, and so we use our “free will” to go the opposite direction of what our own Spirit has directed us to do. However, life on this Earth, although chaotic, does not have to be that way if we allow ourselves to be guided. To allow this guidance to occur with more clarity, how we live our lives is very important, most especially if we practice our spirituality in a way that is conducive not only to us, but also to those we interact with on a daily basis.

It is impossible for any single individual to be “good” at all times, even if the external behavior is seen as “good” to everyone, there are inner thoughts at times that no one sees or hears, but that we know is not good, and it is up to us to turn any negative thought into a positive or better one. We should know that we are attract thoughts as energies all day, everyday, but on this I will write on in the future.

Our nightly ritual is extremely important because it is what carries us through our nightly adventures (the dream state, which is important to our lives), and also to our morning grand rising which also sets the tone for our day. Although it is easy to forget, we must know that we are all spiritual beings having human experiences, and in doing our morning and nightly rituals, I can assure you that it assists us on our journey and also in finding our purpose here. Live your life as spiritually as you can and you will see how everything falls into place.

Now let me guide you through your evening settings…

Most people start their days in the morning and by evening, if they are working-class people, they may work by day and return home by evening, do homely duties, such as cooking and taking care of their families, before night falls and they prepare for bed.

Regardless if this is your reality or if you are a person who goes to bed at any time, this goes for all:

1- Sleep in a Clean Environment

Cleanliness is next to Godliness,” is what the Elders say, and alludes to purification. Wherever you sleep, ensure that place is clean. The bed sheets should be clean, under the bed should be uncluttered, and for those of you who store things under your bed, whenever you encounter nightmarish dreams, know that this is one of the reasons. In fact, the word “Nightmare” itself survives from the European “mare”, which is the tales of elves, goblins, witches, etc. who “sit on the chests” of sleeping persons during the night.

If you move a curtain or furniture, a mosquito or other insect will come out. They always find the deepest, darkest, grungiest places to hide. In the same way does a malevolent entity take residence in cluttered, dirty, and abandoned places.

While the spirit roams the realms during sleep, it would have to rush back to the body to help it as it fights off the “mares” of the night.

2- Shower

I would hope this is possible for everyone, but it is very good to shower at night before going to bed. Who doesn’t like water? I’m sure there are few people. However, water has no enemies. Cleanse your bodies, not merely with water, but use a cleaning agent to remove all grime and debris the body may have acquired throughout the day.

During your shower, use this time to pray, not only for your good rest but also for the following day to come. A tip for you is to speak in present tense. For example, “I am happy and joyful with my life,” “Upon waking, my day is always perfect, and if obstacles come, I conquer them all,” and so forth.

Likewise, in your prayers, do not only pray for yourself and your family but also pray for the world. In your petition for your own well-being and happiness, do not forget that of others. Speak loudly that you wish to do your own part in assisting those who are facing some type of suffering, ask the Universe how you can help, and pray for peace and love throughout the world.

Make this a habit so that it is something that if you do not do it, you do not feel comfortable to sleep.

Take care of your body as your normally would do, with your creams and perfumes. In other words, enter your bed smelling nice and your body feeling good. This will allow you to travel well and meet upon Light Beings who are able to take you through to places in the realm of spirit, that most often you may not remember when you wake up, but will work positively for you in your life.

3- Burn Incense Oils

If you are able to, get a tea light burner and Blue Nile Oil or Lavender Oil and burn it at least ten minutes before going to sleep. This will induce a calmness in the environment, but it also pulls great benevolent Beings from far to come, and assists the spirit through its travels.

4- Sleep on White Bedsheets

Everyone should sleep on white bedsheets, or as close to white as possible. This is for reasons that are too much to explain here, but if you trust what you read here, then you may adhere to this tip. If not, choose any color you wish.

5- Glass of Water

Place a clean undesigned glass of water by your bedside. If you have a partner that you sleep with, this one glass may suffice for both of you, because be certain that as you sleep, you will be visited by otherworldly beings. Some of them benevolent, and others not so.

This simple glass of water will aid you in so many ways. Remember, when you go to sleep, the body is left vulnerable while the spirit goes to roam, and even though the spirit is attached to the body, and there are invisible forces who watches over the body, you can still be tried or terrorized while the spirit is outside of the body This glass of water is, therefore, a defender and also a light to aid the spirit to find its way back to the body. This is very important.

6- Remove all Devices

Lastly, all devices, phones, laptops, should be turned off and placed outside of the room and other electrical appliances turned off or plugged out. There can be a small lamp somewhere in a corner, preferably battery-operated because no one should sleep in complete darkness.

These tips I have given you, as simple as they sound, are very powerful ways to end your day. If you are able to follow them from henceforth and document your life and can truthfully return to the site and give to others your testimony, just to share what you have experienced, it will be your service to others so that they may follow. Because what you will acquire from this, if you do everything that is stated here, is not only you getting better sleep and feeling better in your mind, and also good spiritual journeys– you will also begin to evolve further than where you are at this moment.

PS: For those who are on a path, and are true to the Path, please include saying goodnight to the moon, just before you fall asleep.

PPS: This Saturday we will have another live Q&A session. For those who wish to attend, please send a maximum of 3 questions to embracingspirituality@gmail.com and I will send you the Zoom access link. See the Events page.

I love you all,

Obara Meji

Easy is the path that leads to Hell; [It’s] Gates stand open night and day… But to retrace one’s steps and escape to the Upper Regions, this is a work, this is a task.

This write up is very intriguing and insightful. Though most of the things said are basic, we usually ignore, all but to our detriment.

Great Light here. I sleep in a North -South direction, my bed aligned with the earth’s magnetic north. On full moon nights, a bath under the moon before bedtime is probably my best manifestation moment. Yes, discipline is the obstacle. . . and the path.

Hi Obara, This blog is awesome. I can’t wait for Saturday for the Q&A. Thank you for explaining many things, such as removing clutters. I’m in the process of cleaning out my whole home and removing clutters from the rooms and under the bed. This came at the right time.

In raising in the mornings I command my day like this, in part…. Good Morning Father God, Good Morning Holy Spirit, Good Morning Jesus Christ……. Good Morning Sun, Moon and Stars….. the elements and my Angels

In bathing….. I Pray…… matter of fact… it’s always better to Pray, than tell people anything.

Now I will command my nights the same way I command my mornings.
