How Beer Led to Victory in a Spiritual Battle

It matters not where ever you go in the world, or any particular culture or religion, it is a truth that spirits love liquor.

Liquor, as a source in not only feeding but invocation, is used in every spiritual practice. Now, some people who like to drink or believe liquor is fun may read this post and laugh. You may even say, “Of course! Who doesn’t like beer/rum/whiskey/wine?”

And to think like that would just be you being your human self and not understanding spirituality from the depths. Liquor, however, in regards to non-physical beings, has nothing to do with the taste, smell, or even the buzz you get from it. As I have written before, everything has to do with energy, created realities (individual or collective), symbolism, and of course, ritual.

In our everyday lives on a social scale, beer is enjoyed by those who like it (and those who love it excessively), and while I will not get into the depths of the realm that hosts the energy of what liquor emits and how it affects the human and his spirituality, I will give you some insights into the power of beer.

There was a time when I was fighting a very tough spiritual battle with a woman who chose me as her enemy. I was younger both chronologically and spiritually. These were times when I had just graduated my initiation into spirituality. Back then, I had no idea that the fight was orchestrated by the Universe as a part of my initiation (or schooling). The adversary was one of my spiritual teachers, although encased in human form.

She terrorized and plagued my life with obeah, and I am not ashamed to say that during those times I was afraid. I cried almost everyday. The fight was that hard.

I would sit in my house at times (by this time I had received the gift of spiritual sight and hearing) and a skunk would run past me and through my front door. I would scream and jump on my chair, shaken and frightened, while my children looked at me confused. There was no skunk as far as everyone knew, but I saw it.

In obeah, this is called a blow, the manifestation of a spiritual attack.

At other times, I would see rats, large market rats, throw themselves against the glass door of my veranda, their guts splitting open… but again, it was only I who saw it.

But there was one particular night when I had just finished praying about the attack this woman had sent. I had fallen asleep in my sitting room chair, exhausted from fear and worry. A woman dressed in full green, tall and striking, beautiful to look at, pushed her face close to mine. She told me that I should have bottles of Red Stripe Beer around me, but never put them on ice.

At this time, my apartment was on the third floor of a three-family house, and my balcony was attached to my sitting room which faced the street. I had began to learn to trust spirits and these small visions that I would get every now and again. And so when I awoke, the next day I went and bought two cases of hot Red Stripe Beer.

It was as if the woman who gave me the message had prepared me for the night that came next.

For certainly, around 3 AM, I was attacked by non-physical beings that looked like gnomes, or dwarf spirits. As I slept I could see through my door, around three of them walked through it. I could see them as they hoisted me off the bed, as if to carry me away. It all seemed like a dream, but as I slept and saw what was happening to my body, I began to react by making muffled sounds, trying my best to wake up and get my spirit to re-enter my body again.

The struggle felt like Sleep Paralysis, but I eventually awoke and immediately jumped up and prayed. As I did so, I saw the 3 creatures, to my surprise, run through the door, instead of disappearing as I expected. To this day, I wonder why.

I wasted no time than to run into my kitchen, pick up a case of beer, run to my balcony, and throw each bottle out into the yard and in the street. They crashed heavily, sounding like gunshots, pow, pow, pow, pow, pow!

The spirit had taken me over and for a moment I did not know myself. The street was quiet and lonely, so I can imagine my neighbors fearing what they might have thought were gunshots (which was unusual in our neighborhood). This attack was to come two more times, as expected, and for each time, the beer became my magnum.

After a week, when things had finally quieted down, I was told that the enemy had met into an accident and broke her leg.

For a while, I was left alone and her attacks had ceased. I can’t help but attribute all those happenings to the beer that I retaliated with after being attacked.

After a while I realized why the beer was used and why I had to break it in that manner.

  1. What Does It Mean? – A broken bottle, especially one thrown in a fight, represents not only war, but blood. If a person throws a beer, that broken bottle can cause damage to whomever it may catch or to whomever steps on the bottle itself. So spiritually, this means that the liquid which is the beer, aids the spiritual forces that you are sending after the adversary. The energy of the spilled beer helps to feed your own spirits who help to fight both the physical and non-physical adversary. The beer itself, broken, is a signal to your own spirits that this is a war and you need them to fight on your behalf. So not only are you paying your spirits with the essence of the beer, but the broken glass is a symbolic message that this is a fight and you need soldiers. No one can doubt that in a fight, throwing bottles can aid in your defense or bring about victory.

The ingredients that make up the beer are all spiritual. Barley, hops, water, etc. It is all what spiritual people use in many of their rituals. Not to mention the color of the beer, which is often a dark color (the color has a significant meaning, in any liquor as it relates to spirits). This is spiritual language. It invokes a darker force, a warrior force to aid in your defense.

Think about this the next time you take a long sip of a cold beer lol.

  1. Hot Beer – Now this is another mystery. This represents the fact that war is never cool (especially spiritual ones). War is hot and brings heat.

  2. The Crashing of the Beer – Also when beer is thrown in the manner that I did, the sound POW! summons other warrior spirits near and far, and sends a message to the adversary that you are not afraid. Look at it as returning shots fired.

What I have written here is topical, I usually reserve depth for my classes. However…

Here are some things that beer is good for:

1. Remove Negativity From Your Home or Business

If you suspect that anybody has placed any spirit to block your business or your home from prosperity to your love life, get hot beer and without shame, (and with as much power as you can muster), crash them in the yard or in front of your business place. Do you care if it is wall street? However, this should be done in uneven numbers. You choose the amount. Let your own spirit guide you.

2. After Having Contact With the Law

If you ever entered jail, a precinct, or even had any contact at all with police or security, as soon as you get home, wash your body with a bottle of hot beer. This is a fact. If police touches you once, it will happen again. This can be broken by washing your body with a bottle of beer. The dark energy of police and courthouse continues to follow people if it is not broken. One way to break the chain is by using a bottle of beer.

3. Bring Someone Home Safely

If you’re ever worried about a family member coming home by themselves alone at night, just put a bottle of beer on the counter and say: “I offer this beer to the Head Spirit that guides (insert name of person). Bring them home safely.

When the person returns home safely, open the beer and leave it overnight. The next day you can dispose of it or put it on your altar if you have one.

4. Remove Negative Energy

If you are around negative energy that just feels heavy and dark, when you come away from it, use beer with rock salt to remove it. Pour the beer into an enamel basin (not plastic), with a handful of brand new rock salt (not table salt), add some water, add some loose change (don’t count the change), add the beer (any amount between 1 – 7, but choose an odd number) pray over the solution using whatever religion you are or whatever you believe in.

Wash your body and be sure your head gets wet! If it doesn’t, then the effect will not be the same. If you must, take a shower before you do this spiritual bath not afterwards. Do not towel off. Air dry instead. You will probably smell like a bar but you won’t feel like one 😉

5. Consecrated Beer for the Ancestors (and spiritual bath)

Add a bottle of unopened beer on your spiritual altar. The altar is there to engage your ancestral spirits when they visit your home. It is a sacred space in your home and many things can be placed there that is sacred for them. One of them should be a bottle of beer, preferably one in a darker bottle. Use a bottle, not a can. This is important because that bottle which will be there overtime, unopened, will become charged, or let me say consecrated, so that if you should ever need to take a spiritual bath to clear yourself, this bottle would the perfect ingredient for this ritual.

PS: Never leave an empty beer bottle standing up in your home. To do so, unbeknownst to many, can attract war or insight arguments. Of course there is metaphysics behind this as well, but I’ll reserve that for another time.

That’s all for now folks,

Obara Meji

PPS: Someone remind me to write about the spirituality of rice!

Good to know the use of beers. They always have red stripe on the seal at the Zion churches. When certain spirits are passing through and the whole church is in a frenzy they would break them. This is really good information.

Great Post. It was not only educating but also entertaining. It was like a video of the event was playing in my head with you running with the beer bottles lol. The only thing that I couldn’t really do is create a picture of you, how do you look? That’s a big question. I’m eager to see the real OBARA MEJI, even if it is just your real photo. I can imagine your journey. To raise from where you began to where you now STAND, so many people can’t imagine the road you have traveled. The humiliation, the sacrifice, the… Read more »

So nice. I just discovered your blog today when I was checking if destiny could be exchanged because I went to a spirituality to seek help and then he gave me a white bulb-like material and perfume to rub all over hands and hands returned the bulb-like material to him which he held in his hand then inhaled deeply then asked me to open my palms and as I did I watched the bulb tilt from facing me to the other side pointing towards him and when I asked he said he was checking something. I am happy I discovered… Read more »

Thanks for the post. So this is the reason why people break beer bottles when there is a fight among them in drinking bars in order for worrior spirits to aid them.

Suppose when you try to break the beer bottle it ricochet unbroken and untouched. Instead of the pow-pow noise you hear the sound of like a mango or breadfruit drop on the ground not mashed or injured. Would that mean no aid is willing to come? I notice at bars, the rumheads always pour out a tip of the beer unto the floor or counter top, before taking the first sip. Why? I remember back in the days if gas took someone up and they had a terrible headache, old time people always gave that person a hot beer to… Read more »

Tried to edit my previous post but couldn’t. I can’t wait on your topic about the spirituality of rice. Now that topic will definitely have my interest. So much things I hear about rice from washing your face in it to see duppy to using it like salt to create a barrier.

The little I can recall from school days is that rice is usually grown in swampy areas so I guess the water area of its growth will be a big factor in its spiritual use?

Thank you Obara for this post. Not only was it well explained but your writing style made it also entertaining. I actually could picture you in a bar telling a story about breaking bottles going “pow-pow-pow.”

In use no. 2 do you also have to break the bottle or can it be discarded in the trash as normal?

Well I can say I honestly did not know an empty beer bottle shouldn’t be left standing. I will most definitely be sure to make sure that doesn’t happen in my home from now on.

Thanks for this Obara. I had a dream around two weeks ago of my grandfather who has passed away. He was looking through the window and then asked for a beer. In my vision a green bottle with red writing appeared before me. I believe my grandfather is telling me to prepare an alter, which I havent done yet
