Crossing into the New Year – Here is a Tip and a Message

Happy new year to all and sundry! I had a whole different post that I wrote and did not find the time to post, but here we are on New Years Day so I had to rush in to wish you the years end and to give a huge hug to all who have been with me for almost fifteen years, or those who have been peeping for years and the sometimers who remember to check in from time to time, (come on in for the hug as well), and to the newcomers, come my dears, have a seat, you are very welcome.

I have not done a prediction post in a while, and that is because some of what has been written in the previous years is still unfolding, so I had to pause until it is correct for me to begin again.

I had a very wise mother, who knew so many things but never explained much to any of us. It was since I became of age that I looked back to times when she would do or say things that would pass over the heads of many, but would stick with me forever. She was a very mysterious woman who would warn us about leap years and certain hours. She would tell us of a certain time of the day or night when we could go out or stay in. She would come into our room when we would wake up and tell us to stay in bed for five or ten minutes more, even if we needed to go to the bathroom, hold it.

No explaining, just do as I say, and we did, even my dad who seemed to trust her words, or he just played along. My dad believed in nothing. He said he was a Rastaman, he had no locs but made sure to tell us he was Rasta from the heart.

My mother was born in December, so she loved Christmas time. Jamaicans know how to celebrate, so the crooner Jim Reeves’ voice filled the community air from the many different radio stations playing him, and the neighbors who competed to play the radio the loudest, while singing his songs, as Jamaican rum cakes were being mixed and baked. My mother’s cake smelled and tasted the best. Joy was in the air, and we all felt it, even the gunmen quieted their guns for a while until Jesus was crucified, while my mother cried in remembrance as if she witnessed it.

As the days drew closer to New Year’s Eve, Mama would caution Daddy not to go next door to the gambling yard. She would caution him to stay home, because “shots have no eyes”. She said the old year likes to take companions with it when leaving, and it did not pick anyone special, the pick was random. So on New Years Eve and even a week before then, it was always advised that we stay home.

The ritual for most Jamaicans, and my mother enforced this, was to make sure the house was absolutely clean. All of our clothes had to be washed, pressed, and put away. There must be food in the house, cooked and dry food, so that the new year would come and find us with abundance, and this signified that the year would allow it to remain so, with more on top. Abundance liked its own company. If a house was dry, abundance would walk right past it. All curtains must be changed, either new ones were up or the old ones washed, dried, and hung.

Most especially, Mama said there should be no quarrel because if the new year came and caught us quarreling or fighting, it would follow the parties involved for the rest of the year.

If you borrowed, find a way to pay it back, or you will be a borrower until “thy kingdom come.” These were Mama’s words, not mine.

So many things were taught to us from Mama and Jamaican cultural beliefs, but the one that stood out to me the most is the one that says, stay close to home. She said the old year needs companions to leave with it, and it chooses randomly. This is why I am making this post. I wanted you to see this and adhere. Mama spoke the truth.

However, one thing to tell you– we are not yet in the “New Year”. That story is too long to go into, and this isn’t the year 2026, it is another phase. We are swimming in the waters of life.

For the month of January, Be Ye Careful. Up until the 17th. 2026 has not yet arrived. 2025 is still “thinning out”, so this is still a crucial period. After the 17th of this month, the supposed New Year will strengthen as 2025 has waned away entirely.

Also, I am sorry to say this, I really don’t want to, but while writing this a message has come through. Listen if you want or not. There is going to be a cruise ship or boating calamity this year or the next. Persons who like to go on cruise ships– rethink. It will be impactful. I am not told where this will occur, but beware.

Do not fight. Do not quarrel. “He who fights and runs away, lives to fight another day.” Leave the old version of yourself, that part of yourself that does not suit you, leave that in the waters of 2025.

Be careful, all. Happy New Year.

(And thank you, Mama, wherever in the unknowable world you are. I am sharing your lessons with the world).

Hi Obara, it’s Sunday 1/4/26 1:13am, and I’m here in the ER, with my daughter reading this and smiling. This was a joy to read, smiling at your memories from childhood and picturing it as if I was there. Thank you for this post, and letting us know that we still have a few more days until the “actual” new year kicks in, so for us to be careful. 2025, was a trying year for me, let’s hope 2026 is better. Nevertheless, thank you so much for this post, although a bit short, since I’m used to longer ones, I… Read more »

Thanks and same to you too teach!!!!!! Lots of hugs to you and all!

Time is truly changing…… Just saw the news about Trump taking over Venezuela and seeing this is sooo sad……. The illusions are in our plain sight…… Is 2025 really taking this long to end for it’s giving more time to people to fully awake from their slumbers? I see 2026 as the year for more work and less play….

Love and light teach to you and everyone

Happy New Year Obara. I am glad you made a prediction for 2026. Thanks a bunch. 2025 has being the most challenging and harsh year I have ever faced. I have been drained mentally, emotionally and physically. A year that has ripped me off my flesh and left my bones exposed. A year where helpers fail and all comfort flee. A year I will never forget. However, I honor the lessons. Obara about the cruise ship, this prediction came in 2024 #6, and 2026 it has repeat itself. This is something we should not joke about. 2024 prediction #7 somewhere… Read more »
