Spirit or My Own Thoughts? How You Hear From Spirit Without Realizing It

I know it has been a long time since I have written a post, and I thank all who have sent me emails wondering where I’ve been or how I am doing. Here I am today! And I believe this post is needed for all of us, especially within this time and the time we are heading towards.

I’ve often spoken about spirit here on my blog, and the word, as I use it, is plural not singular. “Spirit” seems to be easily defined but it is more than what you can fathom.

Saying “spirit” can allude to the underlying essence of a bed or table, to a book, to celestial beings, to higher forms of life, a plant, or any form of Intelligence, with or without a physical body, and even this explanation is still limited in describing what spirit is.

But in this post, the spirit that I am specifically speaking of today, is a mysterious non-physical high conscious being that guides us. What it is exactly, I am not sure. But whether you believe in it or not, each and every being on this planet is fitted with his or her own conscious being that is attached to him or her. It is this spirit that guides anyone who divines as a medium or deals with oracle, this great mystery that guides the diviner’s messages and solutions. No matter what “individual” deity or specific spirit he may be in contact with; there is more occurring than what he is aware of.

This great mystery is what gives that burst of inspiration, or that sudden remembrance of something you had forgotten, or that feeling not to go somewhere, or the impulse to get up and go, or perhaps the reason your car won’t start even though there is no issue with it. It is spirit. It is ever becoming and expansive and it is a mystery that no one knows or perhaps can ever properly define.

Yet you interact with it everyday. But how do you know?

All my life I’ve had interactions with this mystery. To say I was a strange child is to put it mildly, because I did not understand myself. Spirit has always interacted with me from a younger age through things that were around me. For example, as I’ve written here before, at age 5 there were stones being thrown at me from the back of my cherry tree in Jamaica. But no one was behind that tree.

None of the stones ever hit me, but I believe now as I am older, that at those times, something wanted me to be aware of its presence. Even though I was young, I believe they knew that I would remember this. I give this example because there are many people, at whatever stage of life that they may be in, often times facing difficulties, who wonder about their lives, the direction it is going and how they can communicate or hear from with something divine for comfort or answers.

Most often the answers that they’re seeking, they have already received because this mysterious spirit speaks to us in many ways in our everyday lives. To many people, when you talk about spirit, the mind thinks of an ancestor, or some great apparition to appear in some form to them like the picture used in this blog post, but they do not understand that subtlety is the language of spirit, not drama.

Imagine it this way: the farther away something gets from Earth, the thinner the atmosphere will become. Therefore, spirit, which is above the physical, has its nature in subtlety, so its language, naturally, will be a subtle one.

In order for spirit to speak as dramatically as Hollywood and our imaginations believe, that spirit itself has to return to “Earth” (i.e. meaning lower its vibration) in order to communicate in the way the human can understand. But that is not its nature.

When that spirit communicates, depending on how “high” the interpreter is will determine how clear the message is received and delivered. In other words, just as we get further away from Earth and the atmosphere becomes thinner, so, too, is it when the spiritualist or diviner becomes higher in spirit (i.e. away from denseness), he becomes further away from humanness and more like spirit (i.e. of a thinner or “lighter” nature), and so has greater clarity in interpretation of spirit or oracle messages. Diviners like these listen more than they speak, and speak only the word of spirit, not his own opinion, which is contrary to spirit and truth.

But other than spiritualists and diviners, spirit speaks to anyone and through any medium.

But first there is a warning that all and sundry needs to be aware of, and this warning has to do with you and your mind. How you think. Your thoughts. Your desires. Your perception…

I allude to all these things because it is your mind that is used to perceive spirit. It is the link to whatever is of an invisible nature to us. If you observe Susan and her usual habits very closely, every movie she watches, the villain or depressed character is her favorite character. She seems very upbeat and happy usually, but she does not believe good things could ever happen to someone like her. She seems to have a normal life, but she became in low spirits when she got the phone call that her best friend was about to get a promotion at her job. Susan, who is in a higher position than her best friend only had to give a good recommendation and her friend would move up. She did give the recommendation, but it was not given with the enthusiasm that her friend was worthy of. And so with her friend’s rejection of the promotion, Susan became higher in spirits and comforted her disappointed friend.

There are many Susans in the world. Although this suggests Susan to be a bad person, this is not necessarily so in every case. In fact, what has happened to Susan is that because of the darkness that she has entertained all her life (being unhappy with her life), this has created an energy or entities that are attracted to Susan’s subconscious. In other words, Susan has created dark beings that receive their nutrients through Susan’s negative emotions. Her mind has literally become a feeding ground for negative spirits.

So a mind like Susan’s when she wants to hear from spirit, whether through visions and dreams or nature, she will hear from spirit through chaos or darkness simply because her mind represents a portal of darkness. Therefore, the messages that comes through that portal will match the frequency of the mind. This muddles the conversation that Susan has with her own higher consciousness, because light (the pure consciousness) can not enter the darkness. It is only the absence of darkness that gives way to light.

Therefore, as all humans experience some form of difficulty or challenge, the degree of hardship is often determined by the mind of the individual, because it is this mind that manifests hardship to be as great as death or rape, or as minor as an argument or loss of money. One of the things that determines what degree of hardship we face is the fears we possess, and often times we are not even aware of what we are afraid of. The worst of them are the ones we are afraid to talk about, the subject we avoid. These are the ones that eventually manifests in our lives… but only as illusions. Tricks conjured by our own mind, for only a short time, but as mental torture. Like the Joker with a smile or the Devil showing his teeth. All depending on how you handle it.

Fear, in itself, is a form of insanity. So is anger. They are such because they are corruptions of the mind, its freedom and reason. Like a clogged drain that needs to be freed. We must be aware of our own selves in order to know that we are the warden that can free ourselves from the cage in which we have imprisoned our own minds.

So how do we hear from Spirit? First of all, try not to listen. Because you will not hear anything. It is only the rested mind that can hear. Not the troubled.

If a man is blind, his hearing will heighten. If a man is deaf, his senses become more aware. One thing must be at rest in order for another to come to life. Do not force spirit. Do not force spirituality. It is only through subtleness, it’s nature, that spirit can pass. This is why it is when the body is rested that the mind dreams, or in a “spaced out” state that images or videos flicker past the mind that turn out to be prophetic.

Let the knowing that spirit is ever present with you be a rested knowledge. If you are to hear from spirit, you will and you already do.

Thoughts go through our minds endlessly, but the difference between this mental activity and spirit interaction is that spirit message is a presence of thought, a sudden invasion of the mind, gently and unexpectedly passing by. For example, you could be focused on work when suddenly you have a “thought” that says you need to drink water. It is a gentle message with a firm grip, and it does not repeat itself. The average man will often ignore this invasion, or doubt it.

The message can also confirm itself through another medium, like if your mother calls and mentions that she’s heading out to buy some water, or even more mysteriously, you may happen to see an advertisement for Aquafina.

The more advanced one becomes in listening, the clearer the message will be. Instead of “hearing” that you need to drink more water, you may see a flash of a water bottle in your mind’s eye. Or in even more advancement, you may see a flash of yourself drinking the water. Or in other cases, you may not have any of these experiences, but instead a strong conviction of a strange and unexpected thought.

Those who “do not hear” from spirit, do receive messages but are too mentally busy, too worried or chaotic that subtle messages go completely unnoticed.

We must learn to unclutter our minds. We must give ear to the divine so that we can advance spiritually.
